It does have a simple answer. The Bible cannot be the inerrant word of God insofar as it does not coincide with reality. God may very well have spoken to people back then and told them specifically what He intended them to do, but the words were passed by word of mouth for generations before being written down, allowing human error to creep in. In addition, the early Hebrew written language did not have vowels, leading to all sorts of translation problems for later translators.

As I pointed out previously, these "Christians" do not worship God. They worship the Bible. Their concept of the Almighty is limited to a few tens-of-thousands of words mistranscribed over many centuries, and because of this they are, for lack of a better phrase, unable to see the forest for the trees.
