I'm more worried about gun control... I'm in favor of relaxation of immigration control, with stricter monitoring and documention of immigrants.
I don't like it because I don't see a legitimate reason for them being here. It's a PR stunt plain and simple.
We saw where the gumint *really* stands on 2nd Amendment rights in the wake of Katrina, IMHO.

I believe the SAF is issuing a "shot across the bow" of the Democrat Senators that they had better stop opposing the "Lawful commerce in Arms" bill because compared to the border issue, supporting gun control is not going to buy them any votes.
It is a bit of an obscure argument, but these voting group size polls are not lost on politicians.

Not at all - these are 2 different measures that have been touted as reducing crime. They are asking which people think would be more effective.
It's worse than that. It's a triumphalist, in your face provocation by the Mexican government to send a message: "We can come onto your land when we want, armed or not, and you can do nothing about it. Even your own government is against you".
If you are aggressive and you want to win, you have to demoralize your opponents. That's what their little strutting parade is all about. They could have sent civilian trucks. But they sensed an opportunity to jam it to Los Gringos, so they did.
