Me too also on the wheel gun. but the .45 is what I have at the door. The front door! The back door has an old .45 long Colt w/4 in barrel. Well not that old I bought it in the mid sixties. Now there is stopping power. Little .38 behind both toilet tanks. 9mm belly gun in the headboard. Nother .45 in the kitchen. .40 Smith in the recliner arm. Ruger .44 mag in the desk. Plus others. By the way Daewoo makes a neat little .40. Hehehehe Now THAT'S what I like to see, an honest citizen exercising their right to "keep and bear arms". Makes my .38 Special and my 9mm seem trivial in comparison...

Never use a 22 when a 45 is called for.Exactly! This scum should have been D.R.T. (Dead Right There)

"I told him to stop beating her, or I'm going to get my gun," Ventrello said. "He said 'I got a gun too,' so I went and got the gun. I said 'stop or I'll shoot.' He didn't stop, so I shot him."With all due respect sir, next time someone is beating a woman to death in your foyer, don't talk when you could be shooting.
Oh yeah, get a bigger gun. 12 guage would have done fine.

Never use hand loads. A good lawyer can prove "pre-meditation" if you vaporize a bad guy with a custom built saw-toothed, multiple-entry jet-powered curare soaked penetrating shaped charge Dracula killer. If you can provide proof of your statement, I would sure like to see it. Fact is, a good shoot is a good shoot. If you have a legal right to use deadly force, what does it matter what the ammo is?

Way too much conversation.
Sarah Brady said the .22 rifle should have been unloaded, locked and inaccessible [sarcasm]

He would have met my Mossberg Maverick Model 88 (home defense weapon of choice). Six rounds of #8 shot in the face at closse range will really ruin ones complexion.

In my house he would have met my Mossberg actually. 12 Gauge with #8. Click clack boom, click clack boom, ... repeat until dead.

I was just thinking about it and if I were a burglar, I think I had rather my victim be armed with a .45 auto than a .22 automatic rifle.
There are plenty of cases where a person survives being shot with every kind of pistol imagineable. I have seen what a .22 rifle will do to a 1000 pound steer or a 500 lb. hog.

A 22 is as deadly as anything. At close range for home defense I prefer my 18.5 inch 12 gauge. But I practice regularly with all my firearms.

I also keep a short barreled pump in the bedroom. Right beside the bed on my side is a Browning HP in 9mm.
I would rather have an 870 Remington but ran into a great deal on a Winchester 1200 defender. It is tactically just as good, but doesn't have the panache of the Remington.
I am ashamed to say that right now I don't own a single .45 auto although in my lifetime I would bet I have had maybe 30. I plan to remedy that situation fairly soon.
Still, a Ruger 10/22 with a reliable 30 round mag would be a formidable home defense weapon.

I like the 12 gauge with # 8 shot rounds to contain the penetration of walls and doors. I have a few Mossberg Maverick 88 Security with 18.5 inch barrel and pistol grips for home defense.
My current 45 Autos are a Ruger P97DC and a Colt. The Ruger is sweet. I have several 9mm all are Ruger P95DC's. And a myriad of other firearms.

As I recall, the statement is from a Massad Ayoob article from American Handgunner magazine back several years ago. I will try to research it further.

Actually the problem with that many is the same as having too many motorcycles.
Parts are not interchangeable.
Too many different calibers.
too many different styles.
What I really need is 8 or 10 pistols of the same brand, style and caliber. Then 3 or 4 rifles that use the same caliber ammunition as the pistols and a couple of shotguns, 12 guage or bigger. I would love to have a pump 10 guage with 00 buck of better.
That would be much more efficient and save lots of money.
