SAN FRANCISCO A supervisor is calling on Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to sign a bill that will extend some property-tax protections to registered domestic partners.
Currently, when home ownership passes from one domestic partner to another, due to death or any other reason, the home is reassessed for property taxes, even if it's held in a joint ownership.
The bill, sponsored by state Sen. Carole Migden, will prohibit such reassessment.
Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval is urging the governor to sign the bill in the wake of the governor's comments last week that he intends to veto a gay marriage bill. "This is a civil rights issue," Sandoval told The Examiner, adding, "It's safe to say thousands of domestic partners in San Francisco would be affected." He said one partner could face losing a home because of the financial burden of a reassessment.
"This legislation would be the first in the country to make sure gay and lesbian families are secure in their homes and protected," said Eddie Gutierrez, spokesman for Equality California.
A state Senate analysis of the bill estimated a property tax loss of $865,000 per fiscal year for local governments from the change.
This CLEARLY demonstrates how useful and relevant the radical left is to the state of California -- or anywhere for that matter.

If you want on/off the ping list let me and little jeremiah know.
This is not good news. It is also evidence (as if we need any more) that homosexual activists will NOT go away on their own if we ignore them. I have seen that recommended by some people lately. It's such a lame statement that it makes me wonder if those who hold that position are actually pro-homosexual agenda.
Ignore them and they'll go away is just what they want us to do. Virulent homosexual activism needs to be fought back, not accomodated, and pretending it doesn't exist is another form of mental illness.
