My short term memory is not that great but I know I thought NO was in big trouble right from the start and did not believe the many reports after the storm that NO was going to be OK. I recall one reason I did not believe those reports was because of Joe Bastardi on Accuweather. The guy is good. I seem to recall his warnings were precise and that included the warning about the amount of water that would be draining into the lake above NO after this monster hurricane.

"Mr. Bastardi is one of the most influential forecasters in the business. He is referred to as "almost a legend" by colleagues. Even false reports that he has changed his outlook tend to have a noticeable effect in the natural gas pits of the New York Mercantile Exchange." - Dow Jones/AP, November 22, 2004

I began to pay attention to this man when he made reporters put the brakes on their sensationalized reports of hurricanes etc. A man you can trust.
