I am praying that some of these people, who by their own admission have never been out of NO, will take this opportunity to see what the world has to offer them. I wish there was a way to set up mentoring programs.

There has been a such a brainwashing in poor communities around this country. I even think the GOP has been somewhat complacent in the past by not doing more to actually offer an alternative and instead buying into the conventional wisdom. We have the right ideas, we just need better missionaries, so to speak.

These people need real hope, not a bunch of empty promises of "we're from the government and we're here to help you." I am sick of people creating for themselves decades worth of power while doing less than NOTHING to actually change the situation. It makes me ANGRY.

Yeah, some of the most uplifting things I've heard this last week have been some very rational sounding women saying things like "I've never been out of NO. I never knew things could be like this. I've had X job offers, and I could never hardly get nothing there. I'm sick of the fussing and the fighting all the time. I never want to go back there."

Course, sometimes there is fussing and fighting in Houston too, but mostly people are too busy working and earning, if they want to. This is the land of opportunity for those that want to make it.

Welfare benefits aren't too good though, compared to blue states.
