NYT Katrina Junkyard Coverage.
New York Times front page. "More Photographs" under the lead story ^

See "More Photographs" under today's lead story.
The NYT has published a photo attributed to Vincent Laforet/The New York Times with the caption, "Cars and trucks, clustered together with nowhere to go, are a jumble of rectangles against the dark water in Chalmette, La."
The intention is to imply this is a photo of Katrina damage. If you study this picture closely, you will see that this is a photo of an existing junk yard, not Katrina damage. To quickly prove the point, note the trucks lined up along the left of the photo which have front end damage typical of a high speed telephone pole impact.
Another small indication that the NYT is not always right.

nice work - also see that other pickups have their beds loaded with typical junkyard parts.

A very polite hurricane. Didn't turn over even one vehicle or put one on the top of another in the "jumbled," though somewhat orderly arrangement.

Uh, you might want to consider more details in the pic? (vehicles up in the trees) Vehicles do not immediately sink, they float for some length of time. the wind and/or flowing flood waters would have taken them where nature dictated, to the lowest level at the time and collected them into the confused mess one can see here. I am sure there is severe body damage which would occur during the aquatic journey to final resting place seen in pic.

I don't think these cars all floated to this place. The majority of the cars looked parked. They are mostly facing the center of the circle. Next thing, if these were floaters, some of them would be flipped on their backs and sides from the force of the water. This may or may not be a junkyard, but this is also not a place where cars just washed ashore.

I am sure there is severe body damage which would occur during the aquatic journey to final resting place seen in pic.Give me a break!TM Don't they have any junkyards up North? Save the pic and put it into Photoshop or other graphics program and blow it up a bit. It becomes very obvious that this is an aerial shot of an existing junkyard that has been flooded. Yeah, the flood waters moved 'em around a bit, but they were junkers before the flood.
Just like the NYSlimes to try to pass off an old junkyard as a pile of "poor N.O. residents cars and trucks caught in the flood".
Rule #1: How do you tell it's a lie? It's in the NYSlimes.
Rule #2: If you have any doubt, refer to Rule #1.

I was thinking of running for political office. I wanted to see if I could carry off agreeing with everyone, in spite of their diametrically opposed positions on the topic. I thought I was being "smooth," but it didn't work.
