WASHINGTON - The State Department on Sunday congratulated Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party on its apparent landslide victory in elections for the lower house of Parliament.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's party, which was seeking a mandate for sweeping government reforms, strengthened its majority in the powerful lower house, Japanese media exit polls showed.
The State Department looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Japanese government, said spokeswoman Darla Jordan, and "to move ahead in our close cooperation on a broad range of global, regional and bilateral issues."

LDP won 296 seats, and the Koumei Party won 31, which is part of the coalition. In total, the coalition won 327 seats, which is more than 2/3 of the total. This is a step foward for the reforms as well as change for the Pacifist article 9 in the constitution. This victory will gaurantee the Japanese force in Iraq to remain for at least for a while which the LDP has sent. The bad news was that Communist Party won one additional seat. The good news is that as well as the Social Democratic Party, they own only several seats. The Democratic Party won 113 seats. Prime Minister Koizumi has been maintaining close relationship with US while opposing to the influence of China on Japan's internal affairs. However, the LDP has also been tough on transformation of the US military presence in Japan which there are obstacles ahead to solve.

So once again we see the repudiation of US Liberals and their alias in the free world.
John Howard in Australia
George W Bush in the US
Tony Blair in the UK
Elections in Iraq and Afghanistan
Now Junichiro Koizumi in Japan and soon Angela Merkel in Germany.
As the sign in Baghdad said:
GO HOME HUMAN SHIELDS! YOU US WANKERS!

Watch them as a force for our side in the future. Just because you don't have nukes doesn't mean you don't have all the parts and the knowledge to assemble them within hours, if necessary.

Hasn't the LDP been the majority party since World War II? They're politics is much different, they look to build consensus and are not as partisan as politicians here. The LDP there is like the PRI in Mexico, it's almost a one party state.
