In before the zot.""
pardon my ignorance, but what does "zot" mean or stand for?
To: churchillbuff
Zot refers to a figurative bolt of lightning striking; in this case, it means the mods have smitten you with a ban.

I'm still a bit new to this, but based on my experience "in before the zot" refers to a disingenuous or provocative post which is meant to agitate FReeper.
In essence, the motivation for the poster is not to acquire truth, but to turn the discussion around forcing a Freeper to contradict himself. It's a kind of "bait and switch" maneuver so often as a liberal strategy to deflect debate from issues of merit.
"The zot" refers to being the first FReeper to uncover the poster as a troll or a charlatan - the first to get in before the lightning strikes. After this lot's of funny and creative pics come along with viking kitties, etc. I still don't know what this stuff is about or what the context is. I just figure it's either an inside joke or some piece of esoteric humor that I don't really understand. Still I laugh when they roll out the Viking Kitties.
I have very little vice in my life. But laughing at FReeper toasting a liberal troll is one of them.
I'm not quite certain this post is a particularly good example of "zot". It's one of those things you just gotta experience for yourself. Just let go and experience the power of the zot.
So, old-timers, how was that for an explanation?
