Motive is irrelevant; Perception and consequences are what resonate through the court of public opinion. For example;

1) Bill Clinton's motive with Monica Lewinski was to "have a good time"; The public perception was that he had no self control. The consequence was that he single-handedly destroyed the credibility of the Democrat Party.

2) A judge erects the ten commandments in his court house. His motive is to remind criminals that they answer not just to him but to a higher being. The perception is that he is using his position to push his religion. The consequence is that the 10 commandments are being removed from historical displays throughout the country.

3) A child draws a picture of a happy afternoon when he and his brother played cops and robbers. His motive is to express a happy moment. The perception is that he is dangerous because he drew a gun in his picture. The consequence is that parents teach their children to never, ever draw pictures that have guns or knives in them, which in turn makes the child feel like the happy game of cops and robbers is a bad thing.

On another of these many Flight 93 memorial threads someone posted a bunch of links to the background and writings (both officially published and on websites) of the architect. For the life of me, now I can't find them when I need them most.

He is clearly a left-winger and something of an activist, based on his writings.
