Short shameful confession: I was once a member of the ACLU. By way of mitigation, it was years ago, I was not political in any way and I had no idea what they really stood for. All you can do it keep putting the word out. When you live in an ultra-liberal location like San Francisco, where I did for many years, there is a strong social feeling that you need to do stuff like join the ACLU and Amnesty International. There are many people are supporters who have not a clue what the ACLU is up to.
Fortunately my story has a happy ending. Many years ago I had a business and on the recommendation of a friend I bought advertising on a local radio station, KSFO. I started listening and to see where my money was going and there was this guy who had just started there, Michael Savage ..........
Sierra Club, League of Women Voters, ACLU, NAACP, etc, etc
I think the tide has turned (since the '94 revolution)
