Well, of all the bad decision to come out of NO, this is not one of them. While there are certainly some issues with family pets that could have been taken out with the families, these animals are probably to far gone to help. And who is going to help them? There are already too many animals in pounds and shelters that nobody wants. Why would any one want to add more on top of it?

Just my opinion, and I'm not trolling to get folks mad or upset.

For those people who had to make the choice of the getting out without their pets, I wouldn't have left my animals either. They are my family.

I think this is the perfect opportunity to discuss the importance of spaying and neutering pets. So far all we hear about are the animals that are loved and cared for. What about the homeless ones that once ran those streets? If people would help eliminate the tremendous pet overpopulation more than half of the dead ones there wouldn't have had to suffer so needlessly.

There were a lot of people who had a choice to leave; the animals didn't get that as an option. I think helping them only helps the people whose pets they are. It is proven that animals help us. I have no doubt there are some people who wanted to give up but didn't because of their animals. For me when I feel over-whelmed and frustrated all I need to do is scratch him behind the ear and I feel so much better. It makes me sick to drive around my own town and see the homeless animals. It makes me even sicker to know that the fate of the majority of the animals in the Gulf could have been averted completely.

If people not only realized they have a responsibility for the animals in their lives and actually acted on it and did something instead of saying there is nothing they can do these kinds of events would have fewer casualties. Saying that it is too expensive to have them fixed is an unacceptable answer. There are local groups who need donations of items i.e. blankets and food and that also need money. They help with low cost spaying and neutering of pets. Katrina has only magnified the issue of animals in shelters, animals on the streets and the fact they all need help.

For the sheriff that has chosen to shoot these helpless creatures, may God have mercy on your soul.

You inhuman brute. What next taking babies off respirators and throwing them in the flood waters or trying to make the voters elect decent officials. Blah, blah blah.

Americans apparently have no grasp of realities anymore. Personally I blame Bush for not coming down and taking all these critters to the White House with him and for not seizing Supreme Power in Louisiana to stop all this and he does have Super Powers doesn't he? Yet I have never seen him pushing the flood back to sea with his Super Breath. Not once. Kerry would have I have NO doubt.
