I will confess right here and now that I haven't given a dime (aside from my tax dollars) for this effort. I was asked to sing at a benefit for the victims of this storm, and I said no.
I'm far from heartless. I'm actually very generous, and gave very generously after 9/11...but when stories of the behavior of those who stayed in N.O. started hitting the news (and all the "blame Bush" stuff began), I just lost my will to go out of my way to help.
I know there are a lot of good and decent people (probably the vast majority) who appreciate the assistance they're getting, and who are appropriate and deserving recipients of charity - but guys like this, and the people who looted stores and shot at rescue workers...well, they just made me lose my desire to do anything above and beyond my obligation as a taxpayer.
I doubt I'm alone. It's terrible, I know, but that's how I feel.
no its not terrible how you feel , why would any of us want to perpetuate this ungrateful nonsense, turn the spigot down for a while
