The guy who owns the salon were my wife gets her nails done is Vietnamese. He told her there was a substantial Vietnamese community in the NO area. He personally had several family members there.
He was proud of several "facts" that he repeated.
1. There was no looting or lawlessness after the flood in the Vietnamese section, they policed it themselves.
2. All of the community had been evacuated and family members took them in - no shelters.
3. Most of them have already found work or opened new business in the city they moved to.
4. Quote: "We don't want no government handout".
Don't know how much of this is hard fact or purely anecdotal conjecture but he was extremely animated and convincing.

The other day when Geraldo was covering the evacuation of the SuperDome and convention center, he pointed out a group of Vietnamese who were sitting calmly, refusing to be evacuated until everyone else was.
They were from a particular Vietnamese Catholic church in NO.
