America's Summer is Over - Another great Column by Pat Buchanan
World Net Daily ^ | September 7, 2005 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 09/10/2005 9:41:07 AM PDT by rcocean

Yet, make no mistake. Summer is over for America – and George Bush. That unifying image of Bush atop the pile of debris in lower Manhattan days after 9-11 has been displaced by ugly accusations and recriminations over who lost New Orleans. Katrina has exposed the limits of federal power and the absence of a serious set of national priorities.

You Pat haters make me laugh. Do you even read his column, think about his arguments or what he writes?

Given the response so far, the answer is no.

If you Hate him so much - why read the post - let alone go to trouble of writing a reply?

In Pats mind perhaps. Though I don't recall him being insprired by ANY of Bush's post 9-11 actions. The Prez has been stellar, and Pat bites his ankles.

The ax cuts, or the welfare-warfare state, or the New American Empire has to go. We cannot afford them all.

Tax cuts need to go? Didn't know he was on that side of the isle. Not only is he clueless on foreign policy, but on economic policy as well.

The New American Empire? So Pat wants to hide in fortress America from the world. Sorry, that won't work in this day and age. We have to be engaged with the entire world.

The welfare state needs to go, he got one out of three right anyway.

HUH?!?

"Before Bush went off on his five-week vacation, he signed a $286 billion highway bill containing $24 billion in pork... Had half that sum been spent fortifying the levees of Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans would not be underwater today."
Uh.. Pat do you know ANYTHING about construction?

You're saying if $12 Billion would have been earmarked for the levees 5 WEEKS ago N.O. would be okey-dokey today? That is nonsensical, idiotic, moronic, sophomoric, moon bat blather and just plain STOO-PID.

Pat, you if anyone knows how the gubmint works. For one you can't get a freaking PERMIT in FIVE WEEKS let alone get the 187 gazillion environmental impact studies required completed in that time (maybe five years, not five weeks) before you can stick a shovel in the ground.

But even them, say if there was some magic Pixie Dust that would make all that happen in an hour (hahahha), then you have to BUILD THE DARN THING - all in less than FIVE WEEKS?!? Simply put - You're nuts!

Granted the $24 BILLION in PORK is a GD sin, but saying any of that money would have prevented the N.O. debacle is utter B.S., but if you believe it, I want some of what you're smoking - or shooting up.

Most people don't hate him. They just don't like him. I read this post because it said "another great column by Pat Buchanan" and I got fooled by it. Not so great.

Sadly Pat resides on the opposite side of idiocy that Pelosi, Waters and the DU occupy on the LEFT.

What is with Buchanan What's his beef with this administration and Republicans in general?

Could be that modern so-called republicans are conservative about money and business only.

And as for their value system, it goes like this: If it's good for business, then it must be moral.

If you love him so much, why post his tripe here where you should know 95% of us support our president and don't like to see Pat in all of his irrational vanity trying to tear at the president during a time of war. Pat helped get Clinton elected, by the way. That tells you what a great and deep thinker he is. You want to figure Pat out. Figure out what plays to Pat's vanity. Then go from there. He'll make common cause today with any bozo out there. He's mad becaue no one on the Right takes him serious anymore. We don't take him serious because he a disloyal, self-serving joke. Get a clue, Pat. You're a joke, Pat. You're not willing to defend freedom anymore and you slur those who are with code words. So, Pat, stop posting your articles here.

Yeah, I've bttled it out with those type too. Although I disagree with Pat on his stands on Iraq and Israel, most others I think he is right on target. His title for hte article reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my co-workers, we were talking about New Orleans and she added into the mix, "this is the beginning of the decline of our Empire." I asked her what she meant by that and she said that we "need to control our immigration and to quit the bleeding of our jobs overseas." Normally I keep away from politics but I had to ask her to elaborate further and I get a lot of that sediment out there.

Buchanan still thinks we were on the wrong side in WWII. He's never gonna get over it. Anything that helps Israel is a problem to Pat. What a shame.

I disagree with your position. This is a CONSERVATIVE FORUM not the George Bush Fan club. You remind me of all those idiots I knew as kid during the Vietnam War. The dummies would attack anyone who criticized LBJ/Nixon because "we must support our commander-in-chief."

I voted for GWB because he was supposed to be a conservative and I will criticize him when he breaks his promises and acts like a liberal.

Pat is dead on here. Bush's unbridled spending, a pourous border, and a war on terror that is being fought in the wrong place is enough to severely hamper the republicans chances in 06 and 08. If our troops are still in Iraq in the next presidential election you might as well hand the oval office over to the dems.

"Hey Pat, when Bush rises again, just like America, will you write an article on him raising from the ashes? "

Oh really! We can agree to disagree on the Iraq war but is Pat wrong about Bush's spending or the border issue. Or do you just dismiss these as "minor" issues?

Republican voters refused to nominate him for President.

"Go Pat, Go Straight To Hell!"

If you notice most Buchanan haters give intelligent responses like this. Another argument is that he accepts a paycheck from CNN etc.... So much for accepting varied opinions from left leaning news broadcasts.

THANK YOU! Anything good Pat has to say these days, he destroys with some really stupid remarks or thoughts. IMO, the reason the MSM keeps Pat around, is that the left wants Pat to be the face of conservatism, so that they can have an easier time knocking us, and ridiculing us. I can't tell you how many times I have been in a discussion with a full blown lefty, who jumps in as soon as possible with a "Well, didn't Pat Buchanan say...", to which I have to angrily reply "Pat Buchanan doesn't speak for me, or a whole bunch of conservatives". Just the item you just jumped on, "Before Bush went off on his five-week vacation, he signed a $286 billion highway bill containing $24 billion in pork... Had half that sum been spent fortifying the levees of Lake Pontchartrain, New Orleans would not be underwater today", so completely demonstrates how idiotic Buchanan makes us look. Pat Buchanan doesn't speak for me!
