Just about a half hour ago, I was listening to a live report by Adam Housely on Fox News as he accompanied a team of Los Angeles Fire Dept. Search and Rescue guys going door to door in New Orleans searching for bodies. Adam said that NO ONE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT had done any planning for this, or taken charge and provided leadership. Gen. Honore is the person who stepped up, got a plan together and is providing the command and control to execute it.
Adam also said that he's heard from a number of New Orleans cops, even fairly senior ones, who said from the beginning there was no leadership on their department. No command and control. They still aren't getting any directions from NOPD command.
Well, what did they expect when they located the police radio system's transmitters BELOW sea level, as well as the Comm Center in the Police HQ? What did they expect when connected a state of the art digital trunked radio system to emergency generators powered only by the city natural gas main? No back-up fuel tanks were ever put in place, and when the city gas supply went down, so did the generators for the radio system. If you can't talk to the police, you can't do much "commanding and controlling."
The whole thing is a series of cascading failures upon cascading failures. New Orleans, and appearently most of LA, is run by morons and mental defectives. People died as a consequence of this incompetence and malfeasance.
If Adam Housely truly believes this, he is an idiot, or at best woefully ill-informed.
As is well-documented on this forum and elsewhere, detailed plans were draw-up long ago.
This might help:
Las Vegas Four Seasons Luxury Resort: (702) 632-5000
Venetian Resort & Casino: (888) 283-6384
Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino: (877) 632-7800
AGiven that a New Orleans disaster was expected, the AG of the La Guard should have had a plan and a reserve to handle this matter.
