Well sorry but I gotta give him props for putting his money where his mouth is. He didn't sit in his comfortable mansion flapping his jaw. He went into a known dangerous situation and did what he could.
For example, in the iPod article, the Nano iPod is already seamlessly integrated into the article. This product was just introduced two days ago yet when you look at the article, you'd think the Nano has been out for years!
Notice Penn wearing it outside so anyone shooting him sees it and takes a head shot! LOL!

I would consider this one of his smarter moves.
Reputable news agencies reported it as "parole". The 1997 was obviously a typo "1987". Regardless, the events happened. Whether it was parole or probation who cares. Why would you pick on a typo to cast doubt on the veracity of the stories? Your post doesn't pass the smell test.
1) Spend two cents renting a leaky boat from a local yokel.
2) Fill it with your overweight buddies so hardly any refugees can fit in.
3) Wear a glaring white flak vest so you stand out in a crowd as well as make a perfect target.
4) Tote a gun so you look tough as Humphrey Bogart chugging along the river on the African Queen.
5) Wear Hollyweird shades so people definitely know you're a Hollyweird-o.
6) Carry a few cases of Publix bottled water to enable you to play your latest role, Lady Bountiful.
Hopefully, some waif will stick his grubby little hand out and wistfully plead, "May I have s'more, sir?"
7) Bash Bush wherever you daintily putt-putt around so folks can see your metrosexual side.

Sean Penn is one ugly dude, a much over-rated actor, and an icking fudiot.
I agree his politics sux but in this case he was trying to do something good.
People like Penn are allowed to prosper because dumbasses like us allow him and Jane fonda and Kerry free reign to give comfort and aid to the enemy. I've not yet seen anyone actually charged with with a crime, we keep allowing them one at a time to get away with it and one becomes 2 and 2 becomes 4 and so on and so on.
That's probably what caused the hole in his boat-too bad he missed his foot-probably only because as usual he had them both in his mouth.

The vest Penn is wearing is useless against many larger calibres and all rifles rounds.
