But Nagin stocked the Superdome for three days on Sunday. Evacuees were admitted Sunday evening, so food should have run out on Tuesday evening, or some time Wednesday if it was rationed appropriately.

Do you have a reference for this? I was under the impression that the Superdome was not stocked at all. The emergency plan called for that to happen, but I had heard that did not happen.

No I read this too but it was UNDERstocked in the reports I read. They did NOT expect as many to show up as did

This is what the SuperDome plan was and it says no food and water to be provided:

Southeast Louisiana Hurricane Evacuation and Sheltering Plan: http://www.ohsep.louisiana.gov/plans/EOPSupplement1a.pdf

The Supersome was designated as a last resort refuge and it says: "Unlike a shelter, there may be little or no water or food and possibly no utilities. A Last Resort Refuge is intended to provide best available survival protection for the duration of the hurricane Only - (my emphasis).
