I agree with you in all that you say, and that our enemies are taking notes.

The only humorous thing I've seen come out of this tragedy, other than some very creative "looters will be shot" signs, is the fact that the democrats were CLAMORING (and whining, and bleating, and bitching and moaning, as usual) for a full investigation, ala the 9-11 commission, that is, UNTIL they suddenly realized that MOST of the blame was SURELY to point to THEIR fellow democrat Mayor & Governor when all the facts came out! I haven't seen such backtracking in my life since they were slapped in the face with REALITY! Corrupt and inept democrats can't handle the TRUTH!

Don't worry, they will get a dyke.

Is Janet Reno volunteering?

Do you know if the "Parade of Decadance" that was scheduled for today in NO is taking place? Last I heard during the past week was that it was 'on'. If it does come off, I wonder how many in the lsm will cover it.

They aren't "refugees".

How about something more PC, like "NOMADIC People Of Color descended from Kings and Queens in Africa"?

O.K., so SOME of them are white...

How about "Wandering Band of Evacuation-Challenged Government-Dependent Inner-City Dwellers"?

Seriously, what is so wrong with calling them "refugees"?

Aren't they fleeing from danger?

It's the same here in Arizona. Very few have been received. I think that Texas needs some relief and I'm wondering just who is standing in the way. I know that a lot of people don't want to be located too far from their homes, but Texas can't take the full brunt of this.

If nobody volunteers to go to other states, they should just be told to go back to LA and let them find room for them. Did you notice how few people there are in LA?

I don't know about the parade. I do remember reading here that they had a parade in Lafayette the other day.

They aren't "refugees".

I'm beginning to think that's what they are. A refugee is someone who is fleeing an oppresive government and since the unemployment rate in NO exceeded 20%, and since they were left without food and water by their own city government, since the state of LA is only taking care of 54,000 of their own citizens while the rest of the country is stepping up to help these people offering food, shelter, work, education, then perhaps refugee is exactly the right word.

This country was built by people fleeing oppresive governments. There should be NO shame attached to that word, rather that status is hopeful for the people who escape.

It would seem to me there is a whole underclass of people who were deliberately kept down with poor quality education and few opportunities. By going to other states, their children will receive good educations and they will be offered good jobs and decent housing. I am praying their lives will be better and their futures bright.

What about relocating refineries farther up the Miss River plus increased pipeline construction?

We are at war first off which required additional fuel, and now with this hurricane clearly demonstrating severe energy problems arising when refineries are directly in the path of major tropical storms, there needs to be a way to override the leftist wackos based on national security needs.

If these nuts were active during the beginning of WWII they would have caused America to lose the war. It's treasonous & insanity.

Yo Doc, I don't know where you reside in the U.S., but before this hurricane season is over, if you live along the East-coast and get flooded out, or an powerful earthquake forces you to relocate, how would you like the tag "refugee' as an American citizen?

It's real easy to joke when one is not in the center of the storm.

Has anyone heard any more about Fats Domino? It was reported he was probably dead earlier.

I believe that way too much emphasis is being placed on what we call these folks. Neither, evacuee, refugee or displaced person is used in a pejorative context. It wasn't 'till the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharptongue started bleating that this even became a problem. And let's face it, these two would have a problem with calling them beatific innocents.

I should have mentioned that my husband said that it was truly inspiring to see how these people have reacted to this disaster. He said that most have them have very little left to go back to, that he has seen the pictures of their homes, with no roofs, windows blown out, surrounded by water, and yet they are all focused on doing their jobs (from Houston)and getting the refinery back on line. They are really a strong, resillient group of people.

I sit up here wondering if Louisiana would be so generous to Texans

A large number of us who came before WWI came through Louisiana to get here, also we don't ask that type question around here, we roll up our sleeves and fix the problem .....

An estimated 377,700 Hurricane Katrina refugees are in shelters, hotels, homes and other housing in 33 states and Washington, D.C., according to the Red Cross and state officials:

Compared to an estimated 290,000,000 ordinary residents in shelters, hotels, homes and other housing...

"They are really a strong, resillient group of people."

You are right. The people effected there shall bounce back. Hurricanes have happened and will again.

It was the day Kartina hit and I heard a newsman say 'where are they going to place all these refugees', it just did not sound right since anyone of us could be in the same boat.

I realize the left is always attempting to blow everything out of proportion and refuses to even mention the horrendous response of New Orleans city officials as well as Dem state officials. Brown was no prize either, he's gone, and now the other two main visible characters in Louisiana should join him on the pink slip line.
