Illegals? Haven't seen any of them. Oh, you mean the thousands of people who speak only Mexican and go to the Emer when they have a cold and stand on the street waving at me as I drive along in the truck. Oh, those nice folks....

There's a Border between CA and MX????
It must be north of LA if I remember that billboard pic that's been posted here on the board before.

That time line isn't really perfect. The violence really started south of Normandie and Florence, at a little after 4pm at Rosecrans and Normandie, in Gardena, with an assault followed by a hit and run. Of course the big news was a short time later at Florence, starring Damian Football Williams, complete with chopper coverage.

Do you happen to remember Bradley, at a news conference sometime in the afternoon, a couple hours shy of the beginning of the riots?

I saw it on the 5:00 news and KNEW we'd have trouble. But I can't for the life of me remember all he'd said. I just remember him being VERY irresponsible with his comments.

Help! ;)

Schwarzenegger has a great opportunity but he's acting like it's no big deal. Yawn. There will be a heavy price to pay.

There is no doubt there'll be a high price to pay. The question is who's going to pay it? Sure ain't going to be Schwarzenegger or his Country Club Pubbies. They'll just kick back and sneer, "Who else ya gonna vote for? Democrats?"

Saw it all play out in the 2003 Recall. So long as they can keep selling out conservatives, they'll keep running Democrats with an 'R' by their name.

Economists estimate that 20,000 to 40,000 people were put out of work when their places of business were looted or burned.

And isn't it interesting how the Leftists like to call riots "rebellions"? Small wonder Democrats enjoy such things; it assures the perpetuation of their learned-helplessness, welfare-state constituency.

Earthquakes are a fact of life here for us native Californians. You guys can have your floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. Not to mention your humidity and/or blizzards.

"Don't tell that to the democrat politicians of California.

This week they tried to push gay marriage and driver's licenses for illegals. Both issues that the majority of Californians are against. But since they don't believe in the concept of majority rules, they continue to push their agenda of pandering"

Well, sure they don't believe in majority opinion: they get elected, anyway.

I hoped for the days the Orange County would enshroud all of southern Calfornia. Oh well, until that day, expect the insanity to continue.

Molly Ivans and her herd are having a high old time blaming the Republicans for this disaster when it's really the result of decades of hopeful wishing by all parties involved. Louisiana has never been blessed with politicians seeking to put their state's better interests above a lucrative deal (D-Huey Long). The wetlands were encroached by commercial interests that favored Democrat contributors (not that it mattered a whit to Mother Nature). Still, the latest administration did severely cut the necessary funding for the levees - though it may never be known if that would have helped or not.

The violence and inhumanity confirms that there are citizens who don't deserve the title - subhumans on the inside who'll take advantage of their fellows when you or I would instinctively try to help. You can't say these people had no choice since the feds have made continual runs through the flooded areas asking nicely that people gather up and leave.

I believe this is the result of a city cowtowed and pampered to because it had a majority taught it was a helpless minority. Too many of its citizens were raised in the idea that the government was their only means of survival and success (thanks to the Democrats), insuring all local and state governments taking these people in that they'll be liable for their upkeep until they can figure out how to get them back on the federal government's teat. So yes, they really are refugees, in the strictest sense of the word.

You guys can have your floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes.

In California, I lived in a town that was mostly on flood plain, and the only tornado I have ever seen spawned near that town (Woodland, near Sacto). Hurricanes DO affect California, but since they always move on a westward track, the strongest part near the eye never hits land. Even so, West Coast hurricanes can still spawn tornadoes and generate winds strong enough to blow off roofs. If you live in Sonoma County (I looked at your profile), you ARE affected by hurricanes.

Now that I live on the East Coast, on the side of a hill, I don't have flooding to worry about anymore. Humidity does sometimes happen, and I suppose there will be snow in a few months. Last year wasn't so bad--in fact, it snowed as much in Woodland about 4 years ago.

I think that if Californians want to solve problems like illegal immigration and the push for gay marriage, they need to realize that they must stop voting for liberals. No matter how much liberals say they care, how emotional they get, or how many children they surround themselves with for photo ops, no hole in a ballot should ever be punched for them.

For all the liberal "caring", they do not know how to manage or lead, and they usually work against the will of the voters--for their own good, of course--because, somehow, they formed a belief that they are smarter than everyone else.

I once saw a good analogy for putting caring liberals in charge: an airplane. There might be a passenger on board who is absolutely terrified of flying. He cares more than anyone else about that plane staying safely in the air--but does his caring make him the one most qualified to fly the plane?

49% extremely concerned + 32% concerned = 81% opposed to foreign invaders

Have patience in the wisdom of our government policy. The immigration laws are unjust and unenforceable. Eventually those poll numbers will drop, as the invaders come to displace the lawful residents, proving that government policy was right all along.

Hurricanes come during a rather well defined season. Earthquakes don't. Hurricanes can be tracked for thousands of miles before they make landfall, and their intensity can be estimated. No one knows where or when the next major earhquake will happen or how big it will be. I'd rather take my chances with hurricanes.

Pollsters get totally different results depending on how they ask the question about illegal immigration. When they ask people to rank their concerns in order of importance, illegal immigration always comes out near the bottom.

When they ask people the degree of their concern of "illegal" immigrants it always produces a number that appears to make it look like a much greater concern than it really is.

People surveyed about twenty issues might respond that they are "extremely concern" about every one of them including the issue of an invasion from Mars. "Extremely concerned" is not very meaningful in this type poll.

But these type polls are useful in gauging shifts in public opinion over time (comparing apples to apples). The percent of people saying that illegal immigration is extremely important has not changed in this poll since January 2002. It remained constant at 49%. The anti-immigrant propaganda campaign has not been effective.

Also from the poll was a question concerning civilian border patrols. From the poll:
"By a 56% to 41% margin, Californians reject the idea of private citizens forming patrols along the border with Mexico to reduce the number of people entering the country."

This poll is not good news for the Buchasnan/Tancredo crowd.
