I hope all of this information regarding the "divving up" of the city, is included in any/all investigations into what went wrong, and also any oversight into how OUR tax dollars are going to be spent...

I don't have much hope that this will happen, look at how the 9/11 commission turned out...a big waste of time..

I have on a Dallas news show right this second, with Nagin on giving a speech saying that we Texans have taken care of the evacuees better than they could have... haha

He and Laura Miller are getting together to "try to get some money for some apartments to be built(?) for the evacuees..." yikes.

"He wasn't acting like a brother," said Brown, 60, a former member of the Black Panther organization."

"He wasn't soundin' like he was with us down on the Democratic Plantation, cryin' 'racism' and blaming Republicans for everything wrong with our lives like anyone knows you got to do to be considered down with the brothers."

Pressed on the criticisms, Nagin shot back at a news conference this week: "To those who would criticize, where the hell were you?" he said. "Where the hell were you?"

Ummm, Mayor, that the question for you.

They were begging you to declare an emergency and evacuate your city, you moron

Nagin is real big with the words ... now that the President and the Military bailed his rear end out of the mess that He AND the Governor created

The MSM is playing a game with the facts

But it won't last .. the truth WILL come out

It always does

Let's get off the 'calling names" and try to repeat the facts "as we know them"

The MAYOR did not turn back the Red Cross or the Salvation Army it was the STATE Home Land Security. Which is CONTROLLED by the Gov.namely Blanco!!!!

We need to get this out to as many web sites as possible and I don't know how. I t has not been covered well on MSNBC or CNN. This is added to my first reply. Remember seeing only one side of the interstate going out. Finally they let all four lanes use the lanes to evacuate. THE MAYOR CANNOT SHUT DOWN THE MAIN HIGHWAYS, IT ALSO IS THE GOVERNOR'S EWPONSIBILITY AND LEGALLY ONLY SHE CAN DO IT . As I understand it.

And Blanco should be brought up on charges of criminal negligence and manslaughter for each and every death in New Orleans.

She should be publicly brought to trial, and if found guilty, given an appropriate sentence comparable to what she gave to the poor in New Orleans when she prevented help and stopped the Federal government from coming in to get the job done.

''There was no place to take them.''...........His excuse for not saving any of those people is a pathetic one. And yes I believe its about money.During hurricane season they always are supposed to have ''emergency shelters'' in outlaying areas just waiting in case of an emergency. Of course hurricane season is about 6 months long so it would have taken money to have these places waiting, and stocked with water, non perishable food, electricity, etc..........When you work from a budget, money you don't ''have'' to spend you can put back in your pocket!.....How many houses and high rise condo's does this guy own anyway?

Name calling? I didn't call anyone any names. And I didn't say Mayor Nagin turned back the Red Cross or the Salvation Army either. I said the Gov did it.

Actually how about I just re-post exactly what I did say. Here you go......

I figure Mayor C. Ray Nagin is just as guilty as Gov Blanco. He should have used every bus in his city to get his people out no matter what! He has NO excuse for letting people die in his city.

Think about your own cities Mayor's. I don't like Mayor Michael Coleman's politics (dem) but I know he would have moved heaven and earth to protect the people of Columbus. There sure wouldn't have been any buss setting around in the water here.

And would your Mayor stand still while your Gov starved you? Would your Mayor be blaming the President while your Gov turned back the Red Cross, The Salvation Army and anyone else who tried to help save you?

I don't think so. I know ours wouldn't. I know ours would have screaming to every media outlet that he could if our Gov wouldn't let his people be helped.

So, the way I see it, Mayor Nagin is just as guilty as Gov Blanco.

It is critical for the Dems and Hillary's chances for the presidency that the American public not be left with the image of failed female leadership in a time of crisis. Pinning this on Bush wasn't working so it is time for the you know what to flow downstream. Notice how often the Democrat Party sells out the loyal African-American.

He and Laura Miller playing kissy face made me gag! And isn't it nice how he got his family out of that hell hole and sent them to Dallas? Disgusting drama queen. He's an incompetent twit and now the whole world knows it!

Couldn't have said it better myself...

Funny how all of the dems are getting on TV complaining that the FEMA director didn't have the right job experience for HIS job...but Nagin, just made a lot of money with Cox Communications...

That certainly isn't political experience...and I wonder if he was in charge of more than a secretary???

I hate that Laura Miller is letting this goof get her involved in apartment arrangements and such...I don't trust him...he is a business man ...there HAS to be $$$$ in it for him...I betcha!

Until Nagin spoke out, Yancy Brown, a native of the Big Easy, had little respect for the mayor, whom he considered too corporate and too disconnected from the black community. "He wasn't acting like a brother," said Brown, 60, a former member of the Black Panther organization. But after Nagin defiantly told the feds -- and indirectly President Bush -- to get off their "asses" and do some work, Brown became a fan.

Now Nagin is a "brother" because he cusses, screams and cries during radio interviews. This ex-Black Panther seems like a real bright bulb. How about a mayor who plans beforehand and shows leadership in carrying out those plans during a crisis instead of panicking and passing off responsibility to others. Is Nagin's response to Katrina symbolic of the attitude of a significant number of black people in America who have been steeped in victimhood ideology by the Democratic party? I'm worried that it is.

"The Superdome was opened as a shelter of last resort, though it was quickly overwhelmed and those who sought refuge there did not have food and water."

Chertoff said that seven trailers of food and water were delivered to the Superdome on Aug 29th and another seven trailers on Aug 30th. What happened to all that food and water? Was it just not enough for all the people there? Anyone have any information on this?

I saw a lot of things here on FR the first couple days of the storm, saved a lot, but alas don't seem to have saved what I believe I recall seeing that would have been most helpful for you. I believe somewhere, probably on one of the long live threads, linked to a file showing how many shelters of various categories were intended to be established in different areas under the state plan. I think I downloaded that for later reading and later deleted it. However long hours online may have cross linked to produce a false memory. Here are what links I can identify that may help you:

Red Cross President on Larry King 9/2/5 RE their shelters
FEMA 'identified' 784 shelters in 2004 exercise
State's Emergency Operation Plans
KATRINA: RESPONSE TIMELINE on Red Cross shelters
Red Cross shelter capacity claimed over 70k

Plenty of smoke, but not the gun I wish I could hand you.

Typical bias from WaPo. I can't believe I am still shocked and disappointed by it. I thought for a moment they would offer a fair account of the criticisms that are being levied against state officials. Instead they dismissed them and went on to attack the President.

I with you man..Well said and all true.
I'm also waiting for Bush to grow some balls and stick up for himself. He's folding too easily hese days ..Whats up with that /
Frankly Im getting sick of the whole Bash Bush sickness. It's spreading it seems. Even people who I though had half a brain are ignoring the real screw ups in this situation and are blaming Bush . Sometimes I wonder if the whole country isn't completly out of it's collective mind. The USA is turning foul by the day and people are becoming more ignorant by the hour.
I'm getting depressed listening to what the majority of people are believing lately.
