Santorum has critical words for forecasters in the wake of Katrina
WITF FM 89.5 ^ | 9-9-05 | Damon Boughamer

Posted on 09/09/2005 1:46:29 PM PDT by rodmunch99

(Washington) -- U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is suggesting that early mistakes in predicting the path of Hurricane Katrina may be a symptom of lost focus at the National Weather Service. Santorum, who introduced legislation earlier this year to curb the output of government weather forecasters, says tracking life-threatening weather must be central to what the agency is doing. 00149_ric09d.mp3 Asked about Katrina by WITF, Santorum described weather service warnings for Florida, where the storm first made landfall, as “not sufficient." Santorum’s bill instructs the government to abandon weather prediction and data reporting efforts that duplicate private-sector activity. He came under fire when it was revealed that the head of State College-based AccuWeather, which would benefit, has given his campaigns thousands of dollars.

He's the most conservative guy in the Senate. Every thing the says is going to be scrutinized and put in the worst light as possible throught the next election.

Then trolls are going to sign up on FR just to post the MSM report.

Admin mods must be out to lunch. If they wait too much longer the troll is going to start thinking he's got 'em fooled.

Sorry, I get carried away. jerkoffs was uncalled for.

That is a good start, after your rocky start.

BTW..How did you choose your screenname? It is vulgar IMHO and FR is a family site. Three links that back up my point below.

U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is suggesting that early mistakes in predicting the path of Hurricane Katrina

Dear Senator Santorum: Blow it out your miserable piehole.

The forecasters had the track dead-on 48 hours before landfall.

I've had it with him. It's bad enough that Dems are wanting to politicize this for political gain. Now Santorum is falsely ripping one of the few agencies that did well here - all for his Accuweather client.

You have to admit that's pretty darn accurate. A hurricane can turn on a dime and this one had two and a half days to disagree with the projected track in your graphic. Instead, the projection was dead on.
I live in PA. On the national level we don't have Republicans, we have some kind of parasitic infestation that lays eggs here; they hatch as maggots that feed on local wounds; then in the adult stage they fly to Washington to mate with Democrats.

Santorum is being criminally & deliberately stupid...and I'd like to know why. I live on the Gulf Coast...I actually have the NHC listed as a "favorite" on my browser... Their storm tracks are on the mark. They also show all the various computer models that their data is derived from. They were completely on top of Katrina. The only thing that they did not expect was for the storm to curve downward to the southwest as it crossed Florida (statistically about a 1 in a hundred track). Once Katrina headed into the Gulf... New Orleans was shown in it's probable path. My personal opinion is that neither the Mayor nor the Governor wanted to lose tourist dollars so delayed calling for a mandatory evacuation. And the Governor had called the former FEMA person in...just what was he advising her to do?

And I hate the ACCU weather tv personalities...they spend way too much time telling people how great they are (not unlike Geraldo...I knew things were under control at the Convention Center if Gerald was broadcasting from there...funny how he arrived just with the first military units that his empassioned tv pleas summoned...it does take a bit longer than that to deploy). I like the Weather Channel & Jim Cantore...imagine, actually putting down a microphone & saving people...what a concept.

Hey, I'm not happy with my two Republican Senators either -- Sonovich and DeWanker. One cried like a baby on the Senate floor over Bolton; the other joined the infamous "Gang of 14".

Just don't tell me we are better off with 'Rats. Our last two disasters were Glenn and Metzenbaum. I rest my case.

Freepers do not sign up and post negative articles with wild statements the same day. If you have been lurking before signing up you would know that. Using profanities against other freepers is also not a good idea. If you are not a DUmmie troll, you can prove it pretty easily, right now you are not doing a good job of convincing anyone.

Their 11pm advisory (60 hours before landfall) on Friday, Aug 26th was within 15 miles of where Katrina made landfall. I guess Santorum thinks Joe Bastardi can do better, and you can see him, for about $249.95 bucks a year.

Corruption=corruption, regardless of whether someone has a (R) or (D) after their name.
