Prayers of thanksgiving and congratulations to the happy family on the birth of baby Alex.

- Baby Alex Update -

Baby Alex will be having heart surgery.

 

He has a condition called: Concatenation of the Arterial Arch.

This means that the main artery leaving the heart is way to narrow.

 

They are in one of the best places in the world for pediatric heart surgeries, so this is good.

 

For now he is remaining in the NICU and is on a ventilator.  He is otherwise very healthy.

 

We will know more tomorrow about when the surgery will be.

 

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

He's strong enough that he made it into the world, and he's good sized. Along with being in the right place for the surgery, add thousands of prayers and guardian angels watching over him..... it's gonna be OK.

(Doesn't it make all of us who have children and never gave any of this a thought, wonder at the amazement of birth and all that goes with it? My Mom always said the true miracle was a baby that was born without problems considering all that has to come together at the right time for them to be born "perfect".)

Heavenly Father, we return to thank You for the birth of precious Alex ... greatly are you to be praised, O Lord, for the joy you have brought to his parents and family. As you knit this precious baby in his mother's womb, we pray that You will continue to knit him unto robust health through his surgeons. Guide their hands with the greatest skill, O Lord, that they might perform the most delicate surgery without misstep or complication. Strengthen Alex for this ordeal ... be his heart that beats, his lungs that breathe, his blood that flows. May his medical team be circumspect in all aspects, that there would not be any infection following surgery. May Your healing hand rest mightily upon this beloved babe, Merciful Father, that his parents would have the deepest desire of their hearts ... a healthy child. Encourage them through the hours before and after surgery ... may they be strengthened by the assurance of Your Presence, for "lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age." In the Name of Jesus, we pray, Amen ...

There is so much the surgeons can do these days. I pray that God will guide them and little Alex will have a long and happy life.

Things will be just fine, I am sure of it. God has placed Alex and his parents in the hands of the best-- it didn't just happen that way by accident. This is just all part of the plan He has for Alex. 20 years from now, when Alex gets married, you will all be sitting around a table recalling these days and prasing God for all the years of blessing that Alex has brought to you. But there will be time for that. Take each day, each moment, and savor them all.

There was a reason God put Mom and Dad close to this extraordinary team of doctors. They will heal baby Alex, I just know that.
