"Don't let the bastards win."
I think your point is well taken.
But from what I get out of the article is that the bridge was closed because they did not want the people of NO in their city. Evidently they were concerned about looting, raping and the like....exactly what happened in NO.
Very hard call to make. It's like giving shelter to victims of the Hurricane who turn out to be criminals, and they take over your house, rape your women and think nothing of it.
We do want you here Mike! Personally, I try and stay out of little battles on these threads.
You are who you are and that is what most of us here respect. Don't let a couple bad apples spoil your day.
In 97 I was working on the West Bank (near the mall) and had to bus it at night while I fixed a car problem. I had more than a few bad experiences that week with the very people you describe. Most of the time you can't even understand what they're saying when they come up to rob you. One guy tried to take my wallet without a gun while I was waiting for the Veterans Blvd. bus at about 11pm on a Friday. He was the one that ended up running away.
Dont know if he wanted drug money or not, but at 11pm near the projects, it doesn't matter WHAT they want. It's me or them. If I had killed the guy, I would NOT have called the corrupt NO police.
Not if you carry.
But the last week here, FR has not felt comfortable; it hasn't felt like that home away from home that I have come to know. The race-baiting, the insults, the browbeating, the cussing and fussing -- it's all old. It's a pain.
I'm sorry to hear that. I come to FR for the political discussion; I love politics and the interchange of ideas and knowledge. I don't like insults (except when it comes to the Left,) but I don't like to insult other freepers, name-calling, or posting sarcastic and offensive tirades - I don't always succeed but I'm trying. I like to deal with facts and get straight to the point.
You're one of my favorite posters, and I'd hate to see you go. I think emotions are high at this point and it's hard to think cool, calm, and collected sometimes.
Think it over Michael.
I'm tired too, Michael, but leaving here only lets the ugly win. STAY. You do FR proud.
Where is the Blank hiding these days anyways?
I don't watch the news much but she seems to be completely under the radar. Odd.
As I said to Cy, rdb3, and mhking during the Tubgirl Troll fiasco, "I'm standing with you guys."
May not mean much the way the world turning goes, but I'm standing with you.
I'm standing right alongside y'all. Front row, if you'll let me. :)
Ditto!
Correct. I just want them thrown outta here immediately.
What happened with rdb3? I have been out tonight.
And where's Stand Watie?
Good god almighty..four years and you havent figured out that almost 90% of these threads have those exact types of "condescending" responses?! Even JimRob has had a few bad days, like us all. To claim otherwise is to say one is sinless. Good luck in finding a better-run conservative site. I left CapitolHillBlue.com's forum because of the pro-homo owner (Doug Thompson) spitting his pathetic venom at Bush (and to a lesser extent, WND and its pathetic Bush-bashing author, Farah). FR is the LAST (and strongest) line of defense against Socialism. Period.
For the first time, in a long time, I think the Leftists are winning the PR war. Conservatives are discouraged, and they are sneaking stuff past us.
All these attacks are a distraction from what's really going on. The chair of the Louisiana state Dem party (Shaw group) has been awarded a contract to be THE contract manager of all subsequent contracts, and everyone is too busy arguing over a crooked cop on a bridge to see that the taxpayers of the USA are being taken for a ride.
The chair of the Louisiana State Democrats will control the awarding of all FEMA contracts in all three states!
It's big, and they used the Brown distraction and the blame distraction to keep us looking the other way.

Yep. Only 23 replies. In a year everyone will be saying, "I don't understand how the Dems managed to hold on to their power after everthing they did!" Some will look back on the Shaw Contract and realize that FEMA financed the Landrieu/Blanco dynasty for the next 10 years.
Hope you sleep well in your little bedroom community tonight cheif the spirits of those needlessly lost just may be still looking for the way out hope they don't find their wat to your bedroom !
A clear example of eating our own - we always do that and never learn.
A big "if" -- I want you here, and it has nothing to do with color, yours or mine.
You're my kind of guy, Mike. Illegitsium non carborundum.
