His resume was very light to begin with here. When it was easily documented that he flat out lied on his resume, that was unrecoverable. There is no way he could stay in the job.
He lied about being on the board of directors of a nursing home. He lied about being a college professor. Minus Katrina, even if Katrina didn't happen, and somebody discovered all his lies on his resume, he would have had to step down. There is no reason to blame the President for this. The FBI apparently forgot how to do background checks though.

Seems to me most of the Background Checks for employment & references are contracted out these days. They only check the FBI database for arrests, convictions, and the like.

The FBI apparently forgot how to do background checks though. Don't be too hard on the FBI. Perhaps his file is squirreled away in a Chappaqua basement rather then the FBI records section.

Last I had heard, the resume thing was nothing more than an "official" bio contradicting some other information. It was something about "assistant mayor" vs. "assistant to the mayor".
It sounded like some PR written by a staffer.

Even the best manager will hire a bum steer once in a while. Firing is never a fun thing.
