The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett made another appearance on the program this evening, following up on his blockbuster story yesterday. Among other things, Garrett got confirmation --on camera-- of the Louisian State department of Homeland Security's blocking of the delivery of relief supplies to the Superdome and the Convention Center. In addition, Garrett received confirmation from senior Salvation Army officials in Washington, D.C. that the Salvation Army's efforts at supplying the evacuees were also repeatedly blocked. Radioblogger will have the transcript up later, but the key takeaway was when I asked Garrett if characterizing Louisian's preparation for the storm as "abysmal" was accurate and he confirmed that indeed it was. Read the whole thing.
I also asked Garrett why no other network is on this story. He can't offer an answer for that, event hough he points out that this isn't a hard story to get, and Fox News needn't be credited. All CNN has to do (or MSNBC or CBS) is call the Red Cross and get a camera over there.

Wow, great video, thanks so much. The Louisiana state officials didn't implement their own evacuation plan, they were totally incompetent; and on top of that, they didn't allow the Red Cross and the Salvation Army to help out because according to them, it would impede their so-called evacuation efforts. What evacuation efforts? They weren't able to even use their own buses to transport people to dry areas.
Let the light shine upon the crooks.

Guess those Moonbats that flooded your site need a tall, frosty glass of STFU.

I wonder if Scott will quit as press secretary to go work on his Mama's campaign...if I am not mistaken isn't his mom "that grandma" running for governor of Texas? Have you heard her radio commercial slamming Perry? The commercial says it is from some type of conservative organization and airs during conservative radio programs and she talks about Perry and high taxes...not very impressed with her.

I watched his re-run last night and it was pathetic. Given that I totally ticked him off on Monday -- you see, Joe knows Hurricane's and I ONLY live in Arizona he's the expert on this thing... only thing is he's ignoring all the evidence and being so smarmy I won't give him another second.

He could do all that. But I don't think we would ever get to see it.

Well, since Democrats just LOVE investigations, special prosecutors, and lawsuits, the Republicans ought to launch a doozy of an investigation on the DEMOCRATS and start demanding access to all e-mails, phone logs, and official communications.

I'm assuming Libs haven't flooded it judging by the numbers, so apparently her audience doesn't agree with her little roar of "independence". It's time for some republicans to start thinking like republicans again. Laura needs to stop acting like such a butt monkey.;)

Have you heard any comments from George Allen? (Just trying to keep track of the Presidential hopefuls on this issue. Pataki gets points from me for his interview last week when he point blank said we needed local leadership not a special cabinet level person in charge of this disaster.)

It's not an 'assumption' of any sort. It's the fact that the left inflates the numbers of Dems (and "independents") and decreases the numbers of Republicans, and asks loaded questions.
No reasonably well educated person believes poll numbers.

You know, I keep a little bit of old newspaper laying around for things like eating steamed crabs and I went back and picked out the front section to my local paper from August 28 and in it was the warning of the pending hurricane Katrina. In a quote by Mayor Nagin he said
"The Superdome might be used as a shelter of last resort for people who have no cars, with city bus pickup points around New Orleans"
The point I would like to make from that quote is he intended to use the buses per his own statement and he didn't. Somewhere between that statement and the end result of the buses not being used a decision was made about the buses. These buses didn't just get overlooked as an escaped route for the people trapped in the city.

He thinks Blanco intentionally created the pandemoniumI have friend who is otherwise a really good guy, but is also very involved in the local (Connecticut) Democrat machine.
He's only seen the story that's been presented by the MSM and I spent an hour tonight telling him the other side of the story.
He said, immediately, "I know exactly what Blanco is doing. She is making sure that no one, absolutely no one, sees the books that record what as really been happening in LA the past few generations".
Would she kill the city of NO to achieve that goal?
I think that she would.

Just saw Joe Scarborough and a Lt.Co. savage Bush. I simply don't understand this. He has to know about the Garrett interview with Brit. Maybe he is afraid another intern might be found in his office if he speaks the truth.

Media lurkers answer to your statement.
"What story are you referring to when you say it isn't going away?" "We don't see a real story here!"

It seems to me that the administration, at the VERY least through the lackluster Scott McClellan, could mount a better defense. It's not the President's style, in fact, I mostly admire him for his ability to keep his eye on the ball. (And that ball for the moment is managing what's going on now...an ongoing task filled with public relation land mines.)
In my opinion you have it right, it's the Republican Congress who should do this lifting. The Senators in particular, who owe their majority status to the man in the White House, shouldn't have required days to come to the defense of the President's honor and character.

And as I keep saying...if the hurricane stayed on track and NO suffered the wind and surge that MS did....just think of the casualties.
