He was incompatible with Bush. Neither could have known beforehand. Funny, he is not really giving any respect to the President in those comments. Makes it seem as if he was embarrased to serve!

And, what about him disputing Saddam's regime links with terrorists? It's not a direct quote, so I can't say, but I'd assume he meant a link between the 9-11 attacks and Saddam, as stated in the paragraph following. That much is true. Doesn't mean Saddam was not involve with other terrorist links.

Powell is a disgrace. What he's doing now is a "blot on his career," not what he said back then.

You know what? He was an appeaser, a moral relativist,two-faced, a U.N. supporter,a bureaucrat. That's gooseggs in my book. We don't lionize mediocrity here.

He's a man I respect enormously. I've met him, actually, and he is an impressive presence in a room.

A man who turns on his boss as Powell has done (even while in office, according to some things I've heard) does not deserve respect.

He is none of those things. That man has been serving this country faithfully and well since the Reagan Administration. He deserves respect.

A lot of us are aware of the man, not the legend created by the media.

The interview really doesn't sound like Powell.Really the kind of crap that I expect from Powell.

His smart aleck responses.
I don't know, I've just got this knack. He called Mike Brown (FEMA head) Brownie in another post, the DU'ers were making fun of that. There's already a pattern to his posts.
I don't toss that accusation around lightly. But I can tell.

Pisano,
You said it well!
Stand up like a man, stop showing this fake PC tender side, making the mushy Baba Walters and all her kind feel good.
All that was missing was the crying group hug.

A man who turns on his boss as Powell has done (even while in office, according to some things I've heard) does not deserve respect. Many press reports tried to infer this great rift between Powell and the president... rumours both men continue to respond to only politely and tactfully. No president needs only men who agree with him on staff. I'd hope to God they debate and argue issues when they are making decisions.

The Dems are starting to realize the Katrina facts are going to bite them in the hindquarters, so they're trying to change the subject.

It's because of selections like Powell, Clarke and that lisping treasury secretary whose name escapes me that we should feel confident in Bush's SCOTUS nominees...he's a great judge of character.
To: jmc1969
Jeez ... and what kind of tree would he be?

He's not and never was credible, just a media creation after the first Gulf war. Stormin' Norman was the hero, Powell another Washington general. I'm glad he's not in the administration anymore and will NEVER vote for him if he runs for office.
