...but if you saw the whole interview, the anchor (Kyra Phillips) went on her own editiorial tyrade about the response and the federal government, but never once brought up the role of local and state officials.
Gee...You should go back and read the transcript when/if it becomes available. What I saw was something that was unusual for CNN. An interviewer actually questioning the allegations of a Democratic political hac
Kyra Phillips opened the interview by remarking that many including the Times Picayune and Congress warned of the possibility of this happening. Pelosi launched into her diatribe about firing the FEMA Director and Phillips interrupted her and asked who she would replaced him with. Pelosi said someone like James Witt, former FEMA Director in the Clinton Administration, and Phillips said Witt was one of those who had said New Orleans was in danger. From then one in went downhill for Pelosi.
She did in fact say that the whole situation was "pathetic", particularly after hearing 14 dead at Memorial Hospital. I really did see this as a Bush bashing.
Thanks for the background. I came in late..I was channel surfing.. If you see the transcript..will you post it and ping me.. I've got to run..many thanks again..
James Witt was hired in June 2004 to develop a new Emergency plan for Louisiana. It seems to be AWOL.
The question I would have like to hear would be:
Do you think things would have been different if you hadn't run Bernard Kerick out of town on a rail after he was nominated as Homeland Security Secretary>
I'm not sure I understand your response... this tyrade from Phillips was really Bush bashing, that is what I was trying to stress. She went on her own tirade about how pathetic the whole situation was but never herself brought up the role of local and state government. She basically challenged Pelosi a bit but never asked her... "Does the state/local authorities bare any blame?"
