Maybe Canadian responders don't have to get the Governor's approval, hence they could just walk right in and do the job?

I saw the interview, that would be a sad note

Of course, what the article omits includes: the governor wasn't saying "no", the Canadians' hands weren't tied by Posse Comitatus, and so on.

Why don't these propaganda mills ever publish the "reporter"'s email?

I have a nice short 2-word comment I wanted to send him.

And is the MSM talking about this? I hope so. Sad, sad, sad and embarrassing day for us all. What a wake up call. Wonder who will hear it?

Blanco wasn't afraid of the "power grab" by the Canadians. ;)

Is the author related to that McCracken character on the John Boy and Billy Show?

I don't want the MSM to report it. I'm happy as heck the Canadians got in there to help, since Blanco wouldn't let our own in!

You just answered your own question.

No, the governor has to approve all outside assistance. The governor figured approving the Canadians and denying the US Feds would be spun as Fed ineptitude, not as her conniving.

She was right.

Concerning your two-word comment, give us a clue. How many letters in each word?

The headline is B.S. It says the Canadian troops (to which we are grateful in any event, of course) "arrived in New Orleans" five days before domestic help arrived.

The body of the article says that the Canadian helpers were aiding St. Bernard parish, which had gone relatively un-helped because most of the (yes, already there) domestic helpers were focusing on New Orleans.

Well, duh. I'm grateful to the Canadians, but there were many more people trapped in NOLA than in St. Bernard parish, it would appear.

So we have a headline that's baldly inaccurate, so as to denigrate the domestic rescue efforts in NOLA.

Row boats can't navigate that fast.

St. Bernard Parish was home to 68,000 people but was virtually forgotten by U.S. officials who were concentrating their search and rescue efforts on New Orleans which is only a few kilometers away.

The one thing you can count on most is that the politicians will send help where the cameras are first.

I want to see their disaster plan. I did hear that Chalmette HS was flooded up to the second floor, and they had hundreds there.....and the other spot was the Chalmette boat slip, with 1500 people there.
