Wow. That fellow is sleeping next to a rare Polytech red bakelite side-folder AKS-762 'PS'-serialed from Factory 416, Beijing China with the very rare early-model grip. I bet it's got single-digit serial numbers.
That's a rare bird even as pre-'89 semi AK clones go.

Unless you've got a different photo than the one in post 114, I think it's a "kit gun" with a home-made receiver. Two things mitigate against it being a gen-yew-wine chicomm rifle -- you can't see the upper front trunion rivits because the sling covers them, but since the Chinese use a diagonal pattern for the upper rivets, rather than the standard in-line arrangement, I think it'd probably show even with the sling hanging there.

Also, the finish on the receiver does NOT even come close to matching the bluing on the dust cover, barrel, sight block, gas block, and front sight block. In addition to not matching them, it's light, uneven, and CRUDE.

I think that rifle is a product of a "build party".

Yeah, that about describes a pre-'89 stamped Polytech AKS alright. The very VERY first models had a tube folding stock like a Galil, but the best ones had the red bakelite folder with the tiny cleaning kit.

I found a picture of one here that someone's foolishly added an aftermarket vortex hider to. Look quick, because this picture won't be staying:

Polytech AK47S Side folder

That fellow sleeping in the picture is likely the original owner who bought it in about 1986.
