Letter From John Kerry Demanding Halt To Tax Cuts
Friends Of John Kerry, Inc.

Posted on 09/08/2005 8:22:59 AM PDT by Williams

It's good to know John Kerry is out there working for us in time of crisis. Imagine if this left wing wonder had been elected president! I left the links in for information purposes so you can read the letter he wants you to send.

Dear ,

"More tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans are off the table." Those are the words that America is waiting to hear from President Bush. At a time of crisis and enormous need, it should be an easy decision for him to make. He could make the announcement tomorrow.

There is hurt and suffering all around us. Estimates are that it will cost as much as $150 billion to help the hard-hit people and communities of the Gulf Coast get back on their feet following Katrina's devastation. And the Bush administration's failed policies in Iraq are draining billions of dollars from our treasury every month.

But still, Republican leaders refuse to abandon their obsession with granting still more tax cuts to the wealthy and well-connected. Don't let them get away with it.

Sign our "Don't You Dare" petition right now.

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/taxcuts.php

Believe it or not, with all our nation is going through, there are Republicans still pushing to put tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans on Congress' agenda this fall.

Republican leaders were forced to postpone plans for an immediate vote this week on eliminating the estate tax. But, they haven't backed off their larger plan for more tax cuts to benefit the wealthiest Americans.

This is a test of what kind of country we are. Are we an America that responds to crisis by helping the most vulnerable in times of need, or do we just give more to those who have the most?

Please join today in demanding that Republican leaders forego any and all plans to lavish tax cuts on the wealthy at this moment of crisis.

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/taxcuts.php

What can they be thinking? Why haven't President Bush, Senator Frist and Speaker Hastert taken off the table the outrageous notion of bestowing more tax cuts on the wealthy at a time like this? How long will it be before they start telling us that tax cuts for the wealthy can provide just the stimulus we need to get the Gulf Coast economy moving again?

Going forward with the GOP's next round of tax cuts for the wealthy would be a bitter betrayal -- a slap in the face to the hundreds of thousands of Katrina survivors struggling to put their lives back together. It's time for the President and his Republican colleagues to send a clear, unambiguous message that they understand the situation our nation is facing. The American people want to hear from them now -- and, until they back off of their tax cuts for the wealthy, we'll make sure they hear from us.

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/taxcuts.php

All around us, there are signs of American courage and American compassion. People who lived through hell are finding the strength to carry on. People who know what their fellow Americans are going through have reached out in one of the most far-reaching displays of generosity in our nation's history.

Yet here the Republican Party's leaders sit back in Washington, desperately clinging to the hope that they can force through another round of tax cuts for the chosen few. They shouldn't wait a day longer before they make a clear commitment not to pursue more tax cuts for the wealthy. And, until they come to their senses, we'll keep the pressure on.

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/taxcuts.php

We've got to stop these tax cuts from diverting resources that are needed for vitally important priorities such as helping those who have lost so much -- and have so far to go before they are on the road to recovery.

I hope you'll sign our "Don't You Dare" petition today demanding that Republican leaders abandon their plans to lavish more tax cuts on the wealthy. There has never been a more important time than this to give voice to your values.

I hope you will stand with us.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

P.S. After you sign the petition, please forward it to everyone you can think of who might be willing to sign. The more signatures we gather, the more quickly we can force Republican leaders to take tax cuts for the wealthy off the table.

This is why Dims want to raise taces (from another post I made):

Reid and Dims just gave news conference. They are trying to bad mouth the Administrations funding plan for N.O. They said they have a better plan. They want to bypass FEMA. A reporter asked that based on the amount of funding wouldn't a new bureaucracy to mange funds. Reid said maybe create something like the Tenessess Valley Authroity. I think Dims are more concerned with spending money to increase government bureaucracy instead of spending it on Hurricane victims.

Yesterday my kids were sitting at the table eating their breakfast and we were searching for something on TV for them to watch. We stopped on The Munsters, which they had never seen before. After a couple of minutes, my 3 year old son said "This is a John Kerry movie". My husband and I nearly died from laughter. True story.

Gee John, if you don't like the tax cuts for the "wealthy" - which surely you must consider yourself to be - then you don't have to take them. Just instruct your tax attorneys to pay your taxes at the level you believe is "fair" for a "wealthy" person like yourself and Mrs. Heinz (oops) Kerry.

I'm sure if we take a look at your tax records, we'll find that you paid plenty of extra taxes out of your sense of fairness and pressured your wealthy friends and associates to do the same...

Tax Collections Hit Record Level for July
By MARTIN CRUTSINGER, AP Economics Writer
Wednesday, August 10, 2005

A record amount of tax revenue flowed into federal coffers in July, helping to keep the government on track to significantly lower the budget deficit this year.

The Treasury Department reported Wednesday that revenue collections jumped 5.7 percent last month from a year ago, pushing total receipts to $142.09 billion, the largest amount ever collected by the federal government in the month of July.

We really need to balance the budget. If there are any more tax cuts on the table, then that is unwise. Tax cuts are fine, but I don't want the US to borrow money from China to finance the deficit.

The existing increase in tax revenues is a very good point, but Kerry won't let some facts get in the way of his pathetic ideology.

What ever happened to Traitor John's lie about releasing the records of his military court martial from the USNR? He signed a partial SF180, keeping the most important parts secret and the thing just seemed to die.

This becomes important as the scumbag dems attempt to block the Roberts nomonation, alleging that there are key documents that haven't been released. WHY AREN'T WE RAISING HELL OVER THE SECRET KERRY DOCUMENTS THAT STILL HAVEN'T BEEN RELEASED???

I heard that the Walton family is donating $17 million for Katrina relief (apart from the money that Wal-Mart as a business is donating). I haven't heard anything about how much John and Teresa Heinz-Kerry are donating.

I wish people would understand that unlike in your household, in the federal government tax policy is completely divorced from spending policy. So, even if we use static budgeting and assume that tax cuts decrease revenue, there is still no need to raise taxes in response to increases in spending.

The issue thus becomes purely one of the level of spending. Sure, we could fight all day about whether or not its better to pay for the spending now or later, but ultimately I have to think that the tax/debt issue is small compared to the level of spending issue.
