Actually the sewer/bacteria won't harm the trees over a short period of exposure. Oil of gas or other chemicals could be another story. Live oaks are tough trees.

Live oaks are tough trees.

Live oaks are relatively weak---for the Oak family at least. Live Oaks and Red Oaks grow faster and have a faster capillary take-up than Post and Blackjack and other White oaks. Live Oaks are common here in Dry Central Tex, but I'm always thinking Pecan and big-old white oaks in NOLA.....but I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I could be very wrong.

That said, I would think the white oaks would be more resilient longer, but I don't know that either. (And no, I'm not making a play on white/black oaks.)
