What is the total fairtax charged on a 100.00 US item? Not a 77.00 dollar item, a 100.00 item.

$129.87 + State sales tax + local sales tax + city sales tax

Actually the tax is "of the gross payment".

Since all of those taxes are part of "the gross payment", following the letter of the law, it would have to be:
State sales tax + local sales tax + city sales tax + price TIMES the 0.30 fairtax rate

Correct me if I am wrong, but if you live in a state that has an income tax, that would not be eliminated. So in other words " $129.87 + State sales tax + local sales tax + city sales tax + state income tax.
