This has to be a different lawsuit. He mentions the suit was settled in 1997 and concerned levees. I didn't konw about this one.

The one I am writing about was settled in 1977 and concerned the floodgates for Rigolets and hef Menteur. Acording to the LSU professor I interviewed this would have alleviated the flooding. IN fact they were redoing the propoisal.

If it had been built during the 70's like it was supposd to be the flooding would not have been so bad.

This leads to a good question: I wonder how many lawsuits there have been by environmentalists?

I've heard there are currently 7,000 lawsuits filed by eco-fascists. Here's one example -

Jim Chilton, a fifth generation rancher, successfully sued the Center for Biological Diversity for defaming land management principles he practiced in his ranching operations. The court agreed that deceptive photographs were used in an attempt to harm the rancher and his operations. The judge ordered the watermelon cultists to pay the rancher $600,000.

At the trial, the Center claimed to have filed over 170 lawsuits against federal agencies. Chilton said these lawsuits have stopped school construction, terminated thousands of lumber production jobs, put Arizona and New Mexico communities into economic distress, and driven many western ranchers to the verge of bankruptcy. These lawsuits also prevent agencies and landowners from actually working to recover species.

The trial revealed that the Center collected nearly $1 million from the federal government in 2003 by suing the federal government under the ESA.

Win, lose or draw, these Marxists are allowed to collect attorney fees and court awards from the taxpayer. And the proverbial vicious circle is established. Money collected from these lawsuits allow these groups to file more lawsuits against agencies for not meeting deadlines because they were busy defending themselves against lawsuits.
