I wonder if these costs have an effect on the price of gasoline?

It says 24/7 for the amount of hours, so 24 hours x 30 days = 720 hours. Divide that into $10,000 and you have $13.8 per hour.

Realistically it would probably be 12-16 hour days, but it still isn't that great of a pay rate.

I divided it by 30 days. I got about 333 dollars a day. It's 24/7 so I divided that into 3 shifts since it sounds like that they will get called whenever needed without a lot of down time. If room and board provided it's not bad to walk off with 10k (minus taxes) but it doesn't sound cush though.

I wouldn't get on any of the cruise ships/Love boats,... if that $10K contract for 30 days is aboard one of these ships, you'd be on call 24/7 , no matter what was agreed upon

Ooohh, I see you meant no overtime pay, rather than no overtime hours (which is how I interpreted it).

I was looking at it like being on call around the clock. Do paramedics/firefighters who must stay 24 hour shifts get paid for 24 hours or eight? Do they get OT?

I'm wondering if it isn't for the ones that were coming in for evacuees?

Figure two months. One with pay, one with no pay to heal and get back to a new job. Not a great deal.

the deal will have to be sweetened and tweaked before there'd be quality personnel who would know what questions to ask before signing any contract like this [stock of meds aboard, how many sick bays] and armed LEOs

My husband hates it when I start calculating hourly rates. He is salary and makes a good check but he puts in a lot of hours for it. He doesn't want to hear how much he is actually making. He says it depresses him:')

You can go to Iraq and make $100K tax free as a truck driver, too. Obviously, there are risks.
