"Actually, I have heard similar things several times already, including here at FR, and from some of the TV journalists, to the effect that ambulances, national guard, and rescue supplies were piling up outside of town for several days awaiting the governor's order to go in, an order she withheld because conditions inside the city were not safe enough to risk putting people in there.

That is a decision that may or may not have been wise, but which if she were honest she would have stood behind. Instead she quietly held the rescuers back while blaming Bush for what she herself had ordered.

It was only the arrival of General Honore and his effectively taking over the operation that finally broke the logjam."

WOW. It makes a total liar out of Parsih President Broussard and other Dem-wits who were blaming the Feds for the inaction.

It also makes total sense now.
The failure to call the Nat Guard and the failure to keep the superdome situation in order.

Ol' squinty eyes-big tears Broussard's story about the old age home is a crocker too. Yes people there died. AFTER TWO BUSES showed up at at different times to evacuate the the home and the manager of the facility decided that evacuation was unnecessary and sent the first bus away empty and some time later sent away a second bus.

Once the storm hit, once the flood hit -- getting a rescue in was difficult and chaotic. And rescue did not reach that home -- which had TWICE refused evacuation -- in time to save them.

I guess you can't expect more. I read on another thread where Broussard is under indictment.
