I think Jeff parish is anticipating being the new center of NO. I hear hi rollers are in NO buying up land. My guess is the Gov doesn't want the citizens of Jeff parish having much say in how the NO spoils are divided.

Jeff Parish voted for David Duke rather than Edwin Edwards who was the king of the dem machine. Lots of pubs in Jeff parish, just dying to get in and have a say.

Interesting...and, if proves true....you're probably right on the money there. Have you read the letter written by Rep. Tancredo about his suggestion that the monies being be sent to LA be withheld from its government because of its proven corrupt political history?

Actually, I don't have the stats before me, but I am fairly certain that Jefferson Parish voted for the popular Edwin Washington Edwards in the 1991 general election. I know that former Republican Governor David Treen actively stumped for his old Democrat rival Edwards in that election, much to Edwards' obvious delight. Some even think that Edwards voted for Treen in the 1979 general election so that Edwards could challenge Treen in 1983, instead of another popular Democrat who might emerge.

Yes, Jefferson Parish did support Democrat EWE in 1991 by a margin of more than 32,000 votes.
