This state position was highlighted in a scandal in New Jersey, whereby the Governor placed his gay lover into a lead position in the Jersey Homeland branch. Once outed, it led to that tearful resignation last year this time.

States having their own Homeland Security department is what is confusing people. They believe it's Bush's people that screwed up. That's what the democrats are counting on....stupid Americans.

Yes, and that is what you want, because states know better than the federal government what to do in their state. And most localities have departments as well, to handle local issues.
If a state or locality messes up, the answer is to vote the idiots out of office and put in people who will do better.
