"If Blanco doesn't look bad to the MSM by now, they are either: 1. deaf and blind; or 2. incredibly biased. Take your pick."

I pick: 3. all of the above

Actually the rest of the state is pretty conservative and not insane. The problem has been in the NO area because of the stranglehold of the corrupt dems there. She is hanging on tight so that the dems stay in power. She did not win her home parish or city.

The only two people left are going to be her and Nagin. They'll each vote for themselves. How do we settle the tie breaker?

How about a duel? Shotguns at 3 paces?

"Governor Blanco just said on Fox News Channel that Mayor Nagin does not have the authority to order evacuation of New Orleans, that the authority rests with her....and she doesn't have evidence that it is unsafe!"
...

More power playing on Blanco part while the stranded lives lay in the balance.
Meanwhile in an alternate universe.

My local news stations keep saying that Nagin has ordered a mandatory evacuation period. IMO all people should be evacuated so rescuers won't have to keep making repeat trips to same areas, it wastes time and energy needed to move onto other situations. The stranded will eventually experience broken gas line fires, serious bacteria disease Hepatitus, etc.

And yesterday the Governor's daughter was on CNN (I think) justifying her mother's slow response in calling up the LA National Guard to the fact that so many were on deployment in Iraq. What BS!

You missed the whole point, and I'm afraid that explaining it to you would be a effort in futility Doubt I missed the point. I own rifles, shotguns and handguns. I have a well with generator power as well as a wood stove. (Live in the Pacific NW). I understand and pride myself on being self sufficient. However, Sometimes one has to be pragmatic instead of stubborn.

Hummm.... and who would define the pragmatic and stubborn? Seems to me that in the Second War of Independence a half-million men died in an attempt to prevent the Federal Government from doing just that.

Thank God for State Constitutions, no matter how poorly written.

I'm seeing what appears to be a bunch of nanny state liberals on these threads.

I'm seeing a bunch of 82-year-old delusional widows moaning, "I want to stay on my porch."

I'm also seeing a fat, middle-aged, doughy, spineless governor..."I'm in charge. Don't cross me or I'll cry...."

From the sound of things, they've already had one of those. Still a tie. ;-)

Does anybody remember seeing photos of National Guard delivering MREs to the Superdome prior to the hurricane? As I recall, they delivered 360,000 MREs. It was estimated there would be 30,000 people there. Does the whole world have amnesia, or am I hallucinating?

I didn't mean alcohol. I meant water. Just hand them each a straw, and let them stand in the streets of New Orleans. Whoever drains their street first, wins.

This is more or less confirmation that he will be thrown under the bus when the time comes.

An unfortunate turn of phrase?
