ept. 7, 2005 - President Bush, Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff and a host of federal officials deserve much of the intense criticism they've been under for failing to leap into action when Hurricane Katrina's destruction brought on human misery and lawlessness, especially in New Orleans. But the finger-pointing ignores a massive local failure. Yes, FEMA Director Michael Brown moved painfully slowly. But the flooding that has nearly wiped New Orleans off the map was rooted in years of infrastructure neglectand now state and local officials also need to be held accountable.

Here it is.
sorry, that's PMSNBC
I don't want balanced blame. I want the truth and this administration and everyone in it acted with professionalism and compassion.
Me too. I'm glad so many people (not Democrats, of course) are researching and writing about the various levels of reponsibility, and providing us with the FACTS we need to understand what happened, who was responsible, and what should be done in the future.
Just think, NJ governor tried to appoint his gay lover as the NJ laision to the Homeland Security Agency. The man could not qualify for security clearance because he wasn't a citizen.
Would have been nice if the President could have come here and taken over.
After all, we lost many citizens in the WTC.
There is no answer other than private citizens demanding their officials do their duty.
Bush's fault! Bush's fault!! Bush's fault!!!!
OK, maybe there's a little local culpability.
We now return to our regularly scheduled programming:
Bush's fault! Bush's fault!! Bush's fault!!!!
Too bad that MSNBC has only 3 viewers.
It's called the laws ofphysics.
The entire area is sinking and from what I understand there's no bedrock to be found.
Consequently, you can only build levees and other flood control structures "so high" before they either
"Yes, FEMA Director Michael Brown moved painfully slowly."
I just wish the English language was taught in schools so that we could follow what these MSM idiots were trying to say. Painfully slowly?????????
"Bush is to blame, FEMA was way too slow. We did all we could"
But when it's proven that they are the ones responsable, it's:
"There's enough blame to go around."
I have been reading articles here, and on many other sites non-stop for several days. One thing I have not found yet is... How many Churches are in the devastated areas and what did they do.
I have only read two articles that refered to 'the church of scientology' and some church conducting an operation called 'My Brother's Keeper'.
Is there something out there that I am missing?
Yes- there's a lot you're missing- and it's not your fault. Churches and synagogues all over the country, and in the affected areas in particular have been doing a LOT of work. I read a couple of the local papers on the Gulf Coast that talked about it.
The reason you're not hearing about it in the MSM? Hmmmm...gee..can't imagine. People of religion doing good for others? NOT a story they want to give much coverage to m'thinks.
Catholic Charities was one of the first in with food and water. Geraldo wan't looking for them. And they weren't looking for Geraldo.
"NOT a story they want to give much coverage to m'thinks."
Did not consider that! I don't know why.
Not very funny is it? But what you gonna do? the people of New Orleans love their corrupt politicians, it's part of their "let the good times roll" mentality.
I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on Mary Landrieu, her brother, and her entire family history. I'm waiting for Donna Brazille and James Carville to crap all over George Bush when they know first hand, all about New Orleans and Louisiana corruption. One thing I think we can count on. These early accusatory lies of the left have hit the MSM with the ferocity of a hurricane. "Getting the lies out early" is what they do, a defensive strategy. But slowly and surely, the truth is coming out.
this story puts too much informtion at your finger tips. this type of political favor (call it graft and corruption if you like)payments should be illegal.
"Catholic Charities was one of the first in with food and water."
I have heard much about Catholic Charities and Salvation Army, but nothing concerning the local individual Churches.
As far as Geraldo is concerned... they should have sought him out first... he needs help far more than some of the evacuees!
The BIG LIE has about a much integrity as the BIG DIG
