Fellow Freepers:

At the suggestion of writer Michelle Malkin last Friday, I have cobbled together a blogsite called Texas Clearinghouse for Katrina Aid to serve as a clearinghouse for refugee efforts in Texas.

Texas is getting more refugees than any other state -- that's fine, we'll take them all -- but we need help providing them with food, clothing, and shelter.

If you are a refugee, you can information that will help you find relief. If you want to donate or volunteer, you can find someone who needs you.

Right now the site mostly covers Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio but I will add various churches, schools, and other charities in Ft. Worth and Lubbock tonight. My wife spent yesterday at Reunion Arena in Dallas handing out care packages and otherwise ministering to the refugees as a representative of her employer.

There are a lot of churches and other organizations in Texas that need help in dealing with the problem and I would greatly appreciate it if you would get the word out.

Many thanks,

Michael McCullough

Stingray blogsite

Good story, but another stupid reporter not checking the facts. 1000 Euros is more like $1240 - not $800.

That's so great! May God continue to bless that man and all those like him who rightfully respect and love America for our soldiers' many acts of courage and self-sacrifice in the name of freedom and humanity.

Sit on it, Liberals!

"This is a selfless act by somebody who is repaying what they felt was a deeply felt debt of gratitude to the United States," the spokesman said.

Actually, the word "selfless" here to describe this action is incorrect.

The man obviously felt a profound sense of obligation, of gratitude for his rescue which he wished to repay.

That is faaaaarrrrr from "selfless" - it bespeaks an immense sense of honor, an immense sense of self, not a lack of self worth or of self sacrifice.

This statement tells you more about the "spokesman's" values (i.e., self sacrifice is good) than those of the gift giver.

My throat is choking up.

Thank you to this individual. A person of honor and compassion.

We really don't expect this given the thrashing we have been accustomed to by certain individuals and governments, but there are good and just and merciful people that care and remember across the world. Stories like this remind us and truly are "feel good" because while we can survive, and will survive, no one LIKES being alone. Gifts like this prove we aren't alone and we aren't unappreciated by many good people. Intellectually we know it, but witnessing it is quite another experience.

Thank you to our Friend, and to all our Friends across the Globes.

"It's extraordinary," he said.

I don't think so, I think there are millions of Christians who do the same thing every day!!!
