I agree with you about the Government confiscating money from one person and giving it to others. However, the fact is they do. they taxes out of my husband's check every week too. And yeah i guess you could argue that I made the choice to live in acoastal area that is in the path of hurricanes. But I could also live in the midwest and get hit by a tornado or flood or maybe I could move west and get hit by an earthquake. The fact is, natural disasters can happen anywhere at anytime, including where you are. And if that were to happen, and since the government confiscates money that youv'e earned, wouldn't you want the government to spend that money helping you?

There's this thing called insurance. And personal responsibility. You think it is fair to make other's pay for your own choices to not protect your assets while living in a dangerous area? Why don't we just all not pay insurance for anything? Hell, a car accident is often a disaster - why don't we just let "our taxes" pay for those?
