Clueless Gov. Blanco (even Mayor Nagin is dissing her)

Paul Simpson, a political blogger who lives in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, La., said he and other locals are puzzled by the governor's refusal to let the federal government temporarily command the state's National Guard. "I thought it was as standard as sunshine in California that the governor would tell the president, 'You have the Guard.' I thought that was a given," Mr. Simpson said. "She absolutely has no clue." Critics have long derided Mrs. Blanco for her tendency to call for studies and special commissions to find solutions for the state's biggest problems. In 2003, the Shreveport Times, in endorsing her Republican opponent for governor, Bobby Jindal, called Mrs. Blanco "indecisive" and "unprepared" for the rigors of the job.

BTW, dont change the article title (add stuff if you must) but dont change it. The only thing that I don't agree with in the title is the word "Mayor" in front of Nagin's name. What is he mayor of now....thousands of corpses and the plans for the next Mardi Gras?

Hillary may actually take a hit on this hurricane because of Blanco.
Blanco is displaying the stereotypical image of women. She is quite emotional and very indecisive. If the population as a whole is watching how this woman handles a crisis maybe they will be turned off on Hillary?
BTW, I am a woman. I know great women leaders exist. Condi and Margaret Thatcher just to name a few. I am simply talking about perceptions and how Blanco has shown to be weak and incapable under pressure.

First and foremost, no Gorelicks allowed on the commission.

In Louisiana, the Lt. Governor is really only the tourism director for the state. He really has no activities outside of that area.

He was out getting himself filmed rescuing people, wasn't he? He must smell an opening in the governor's office.

The biggest problem with Blanco was that she was the former Lt. Governor. Unlike most states, this position has nothing to do with the job of governor. It gives a false indication that the person has been in a position that would prepare them for the governorship. The Lt. Governor is simply a glorified tourism director.
If old Mitch moves into that big mansion in Baton Rouge after Kathleen abdicates, we should expect more of the same. It's like taking the marketing director and making him CEO. That usually spells disaster. These people know how to sell but they can't make decisions - they make deals.

He was out getting himself filmed rescuing people, wasn't he? He must smell an opening in the governor's office.Landrieu didn't do a darn thing to stop Blanco or to convince her, or anyone else as far as I can see, that the state and locals were screwing up big time.
Landrieu was part of the problem.
He ought to be run out of town on the same rail with Blanco and Nagin.

"She would rather be criticized for taking her time in finding the right approach than for shooting from the hip and moving in the wrong direction," Mr. Juneau wrote. So, if her car was stuck on the train tracks and the train was barreling down on her, she'd drag out a calculator and compute the amount of time she had left before she absolutely had to abandon her car?
