Forty-two percent say Bush did a "bad" (18%) or "terrible" (24%) job, but 35% rate his response as either "great" (10%) or "good" (25%).

This is very bad. Not only do people who say he did badly outnumber people who say he did good by 7%, the people who think he did badly also have much stronger feelings about this than people who do not. I guess he's about to sink even lower in the polls. But he has shown remarkable leadership within the Republican Party, just look at the bills that got passed a few weeks ago, when he had an abysmal approval rating of about 43%. This president defies all logic.

Actually those saying indifferent or good was 56% and bad was 42% (with 2% no opinion). Indifferent would have no impact. So negative impact was in the minority. Bush's numbers will only go up from here as more of the facts get out. I hope Hillary hurries up with her Commission.

Your source for this opinion? BTW, you DO realize that when you poll LIKELY or REGISTERED voters you move the numbers 3-5 points in the Presidents direction. Notice also that they did NOT ask "Who do you blame more" comparison questions. Serious pollers usually do NOT ask these "Feel" questions because most people when asked "How do you feel" they immediately answer negatively. I mean you just spent 30 bucks gassing up the SUV, your kid still hasn't mowed the lawn and your wife say you and her "need to have a talk". So in the middle of all that some jerk on the phone asks you how you "FEEL" about something? Keep in mind, 45% of these people (more in an off year) do NOT vote. So who do you think is going to be STRONGER in their opinions. People who care enough to follow the issues and actually KNOW what is going on or people who heard the tag end of a headline on the radio and haven't actually paid attention? When they asked if they BLAMED Bush, not "Felt he did a bad job" the Dinosaur Media can ONLY generate a 13% blame response. Got to be really careful of overreacting to any "poll" like any other statistic they can be spun to say what ever the publisher wants to say.

I'd rather look at it another way. My question is: why is there a category that says Neither Bad nor Good? If I were taking a 'complete the blank with the term that most closely fits those given' test, and those listed were Great, Good, ...... Bad, Terrible, I would NEVER think to write 'neither good nor bad'. Start at the most positive and go to the most negative, that's logical, the middle between Good and Bad would be Fair, or perhaps Mediocre but surely not what they put. So, what would the poll results be if Fair had been an option? I'd bet it would have about the same amount as Neither Good Nor Bad which would have given a much more positive view.

Including the neither good nor bad category we get 56% who DON'T think the President did a bad or terrible job. It seems to me, though I may be paranoid, that it was set up so they can leave those numbers out and make things seem more negative. They still didn't achieve that for all their manipulation.

I'll keep saying: 56% of the people in this country, based on that poll don't think the President did a bad job in the wake of the levee break.

Silver lining may be that we'll get ANWR passed without a lot of trouble this Fall. Wonder who our next Supreme Court justice is going to be? Think Bush should consult with Kennedy and Pelosi on that after what they've said about him lately?
