The number is "Only" 45,000 times the level allowed in swimming areas. But who is to quibble about a factor of ten when we are discussing those levels!

The only thing they can't do is arrest people.
And they should not be delivering food and water.

Loyal, I agree. But many people on this thread are acting like it's a "property rights" issue. It's not. The areas in New Orleans that were underwater are not safe to live in. If someone wants to say, fine, I guess that's their "right". But then, mark my words, when someone dies of starvation or dehdryhation, or because they drowned or something, the MSM will blame President Bush because he didn't FORCE the mayor to start arresting the NUT JOBS who insisted on staying and living int the middle of a toxic sludge-filled city.

Yeah, but to listen to some of the people on this thread "HEY! It's just a 'little bit o' water! No big deal." The people should be allowed to go back tomorrow so's we can get ready for Mardi Gras next year!

Homer Simpson: DOH!

What's your problem, newbie? Are you a lib who likes to regulate people's lives?

Let the residents make their own decisions -- that's the American way.

He does fine posting to himself. No matter what you post, he well tell you what you said, what you thought and then insult you for it.

I wonder why sometimes DU needs a forum. They would do just as well typing in a word processor. Why waste bandwidth for interaction?

conservative corner:

Exactly! If these people had no "cars" or transportaion, then why the hell are we seeing so many CARS under water all over the city??? Gee, they must belond to someone?
hmmm... Maybe all the people at the Superdome who figured they could "trust" mayor Nagin.

Man, talking about "making bad decisions".

Don't worry, they won't be able to pin the blame for the dead bodies on our GREAT, REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT.

I heard a New Orleans resident who left on his own say that a lot of people WITH THEIR OWN CARS decided to go to the Superdome to because they couldn't afford or didn't want to drive out of town on their own and stay in a hotel-- "the govenment will take care of us."

You KNOW the military-hating leftist moonbats would LOVE to have footage of American soldiers forcing people from their homes. It would just add fuel to their anti-American propaganda. They would probably run the footage next to World War II footage of Nazi soldiers herding Jews onto railroad freight cars. The military is very wise to distance itself from this mission.

Doubtful Landrieu will ever be Governor either. Despite the fact that her father is Lt. Governor.

Mary Loretta Landrieu (born November 23, 1955) is a Democratic United States Senator for the state of Louisiana. She is daughter of former New Orleans mayor Moon Landrieu and the sister of current Louisiana Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu.

TOXMAP - Maps of facilities which manufacture, process, use, or transport significant amounts of toxic chemicals

Alabama
Florida
Louisiana

New Orleans
Mississippi

Biloxi
Gulfport
Tennessee

GUESS WHAT... ALL OF THIS STUFF IS NOW IN THE WATER in New orleans.
