No they are NOT doing it the right way.
The right was was already DONE! the people voted to NOT have homosexual marriage.
This is 100% in defiance of the will of the people. This IS the wrong way.

Correct. However, the people also voted for individuals to represent them. Obviously this issue carries enough weight (I have no idea why) for those individuals to pass this bill. Saying it's the "right way" is correct as far as the process of passing laws goes. If this bill is unacceptable, then the people will have no choice but to elect new representatives.
