I can't recall the last time I saw such an absolute arse kicking on this forum. Yet whinealot just keeps coming back with more absurd questions and posts. And I'm not sure I've seen it directly answer a question yet.
It may fall later in this thread (still reading), but I did see on FNC yesterday evening that President Bush publicly proclaimed full confidence in FEMA Director Mike Brown. As he should.
"Part of the New Homeland Security contract (federal govt) with the states keeps Red Cross out of disaster areas. They are only allowed in after the area is no longer a disaster as their presence could keep people from evacuating. That's the national policy. That might look good on paper but since the evacuation locations were still inside NOLA (convention center, superdome, highways) Red Cross was not allowed to help these people. Red Cross was also not allowed to help
inside the hospitals. This policy works with all relief efforts (Salvation Army, ect). You can call the Red Cross and confirm: Red Cross National Affairs number (202-303-5551). "
I called the number and was advised that they were not allowed into the disaster area BY THE NATIONAL GUARD.
Seems like 4 different answers from 3 different people.
And I don't trust the Red Cross as far as I can throw them - I doubt that they will retuen any donations that people sent in for NO victims.
Coop, why don't you lighten up - we all agree that there is a big problem and I would like to know that things get better if we have a real terror attack.
I am not sure if you are really concerned with getting to the bottom of this but some of us are.
I donated $50k a few days after 9/11 and I hate to think we don't have the best people in charge of disaster relief.
