LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Pop star Michael Jackson, who has been in seclusion since his acquittal on sex abuse charges, has written a song that he will record to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina, his publicist said on Tuesday.
Jackson will record the single, "From the Bottom of My Heart," within two weeks, and he plans to enlist other entertainers for the project, spokeswoman Raymone Bain said.
"It pains me to watch the human suffering taking place in the Gulf region of my country," Jackson, 47, said in a written statement. "My heart and prayers go out to every individual who has had to endure the pain and suffering caused by this tragedy."

It'll be interesting to see what other artists will go along with him. Less see: Elton John, Liberace (but only if he's available), Ani DiFranco, the Gay Men's Chorus providing the background doo wops, and last but not least she (he?):

Has Elton John come out with one yet? It's just not a tragedy until Elton writes a song about it....to the tune of "Candle in the Wind," of course!

It's just not a tragedy until Elton writes a song about it. Oh, he's got one, Bernie just needs to adjust the lyrics a bit. It'll be called Wet Candle In the Wind this time.

He's probably already trying to alter the lyrics of "Goodbye, England's Rose" to "Goodbye, New Orleans." He'd probably be more inspired if he could find a dead blonde in the carnage somewhere.

Nagin could've played "Beat It" to let people know he was serious.
