How do you know that? Mental diseases-- such as untreated paranoia and dementia-- are nothing like your garden-variety depressions.
Perhaps he is just evil, but all logic says otherwise. Even an evil person in his right mind wouldn't think shooting a hand gun in the direction of a helicopter would have any effect other that getting himself locked in jail.
