"If we'd come in on Monday we'd be victims instead of rescuers" - Lt. Gen. Ri=ussel Honore
Only problems: Dems can't do simple math.
"The mythology on Katrina is now out there: only blacks were victims, Bush ignored the city because of this, the levees broke because of Bush budget cuts, the response was inadequate because the National Guard was in Iraq. In all case, these are new urban legends. "
Not mythology, a tapestry of lies. The media has been busy pumping the DNC line against Bush with the help some conservative commentators like the manic-depressive Mike Savage. Imus and Russert were disgusting this morning repeating the divisive lies about the role of race in this disaster. At one point Russert was questioning why tent cities weren't put up in advance. He apparently had not considered how a tent city would fare when the hurricane arrived. What a brilliant man.
As I have posted before, why bother having state and local governments if the Feds are supposed to be responsible for everything. Just disband them and save the tax dollars and bureacracy. An entire state govt was completely impotent (the governor in tears and the Mayor of the largest city freaking out) but Bush is at fault. It's enough to make your head explode.
The numbers I am fearful of are how many will be found in attics. Apparently in some areas the water rose very rapidly and people headed for the 2nd floor, then as the water continued rising into the attic. How many took a crow bar or other tool to break through the roof?
Then how many were able to survive the heat in an attic for 48 or 96 hours?
Also when the water started receeding, how many hips and legs were broken dropping back down from the attic? You don't have to be very old or unskilled at jumping to break a hip dropping down from the ceiling to the floor.
THE BLACK mayor had no problem ignorning the black people. He had no problem there. It sems to me that anyone with good sense would have had some waste cans ready for these people, and someone to clean the toilets and the floors.
Ane when he learned that the electricity stopped, did he not know that these people still would have to go to the toilets and need food and water? Just what did he not understand? There was feces everywhere and urine soaked floors, and no way to even wash ones hands. Did no one have any brains after the hurrican hit? WHY did the people in the SUPERDOME have to wait for 700 people from the Hyatt Hotel board first? I suppose that was some more of the black mayors ideas too.
I am not so sure that we have had one accused of plotting against his own yet, but this might be the first case of this. With his master's degree this black mayor could not stoop to help the poor black people so much in grave need.
I just posted on another thread if any one saw that report and then I click on this one and start reading and you answered my question.
Go to Gathering Storm For The Media and click on # 63 post and you will find my question and my thoughts.

Worth the read - ammunition for you-know-who.
Thanks for posting. This needs to be sent to every talk show host, new commentator and Democrat politico who has been repeating this nonsense as if it's the Gospel truth.
A fine article. A bit long, but it covers a lot of ground. I can just see an editor at one of the MSM newspapers red-marking large sections, then deciding not to run the piece at all. His note to the author would say something like, "The New Orleans tragedy gives us an opportunity to serve the less fortunate, to make a difference. While your piece makes reference to many "facts," your analysis appears to serve only corporate interests, not human interests."
BUMP TO SAVE
Great article.

I heard the same thing about someone witnessing a grain barge breaching a levee. That said, there were several breaches which seem to have occurred in short order.
I was listening to Bill Bennett's morning radio show today and he had a replay of Oprah's interview with NO Mayor. It was nauseating. I had to force myself to listen till the end, that's bad. I never watch Oprah's show and was of a better opinion about her.
